do you use earplugs? i never did at first but decided to give them a shot and have never looked back since. this also being the case with friends. i honestly couldn't ride without them now and was wondering what ones you use as i was looking at the molded ones you create yourself?
I used the ones with changeable inserts so that you can let some noise in.only use them on long runs but with probably use them on the blade more as believe it or not its tone hurts the ears more than the duke.
Yes I have and would not ride without them, a few thread running about ear plugs, I have used the disposable for years they 3 years ago bought a pair of £60 custom plugs from Ultimate ear. and never looked back, had a week or 2 ago my Soundear plugs arrive from them, custom plugs with ear phones so you can listen to music, sat nav etc.. also used the Custom DIY plugs that you make yourself. and don't bother not very good.
Always wear them, oddly i find i cant ride without them, just too noisey. Only use the disposable ones but been thinking of the custom moulded ones.
I use the disposable ones from work, very comfortable too, i Usually only fit them when I'm on motorway miles I find them beneficial. With the constant wind noise. Ear plugs are Probably a reason why I ain't gone and bought an exhaust yet, I mean, whats the point in spending near £1000 on an exhaust and a power comander because it sounds good, then go and block the noise out with plugs because you can't stand the noise lol
I use the disposable ones all time these days. My hearing has definitely suffered due to years of not using any. I tried some of the ones you make yourself but unless you mix up the right quantity of 'stuff' they are either too big or too small.
i have propper moulded ones for work cost approx £80 but dont us on the bike i like to hear whats going on around me ? maybe becouse am not on the bike that long but probably take them on the scott trip
I use the lumnous yellow ones when riding my bike and I also use them at night in bed. I sleep right under a Velux window and with all this rain we've been having, I wouldn't get a wink without them!
I find if i'm on my own or going miles ont he motorway then having music keeps me happy. if I'm out having a blat then no music.
Been anti gadget on the bike - sat nav, I pod, scala etc for as long as I can remember, don't wear earplugs but my hearing is shot because of it... So thought I'd get some ultimate ear made. Never listened to music as didn't want distraction and normal headphones you have to have it so loud to cover wind noise your doing more harm than good!? Well at the show was chatting to couple fellas about the in ear headphones as remal just got, and they said the plugs were so effective at cutting wind noise you could here the music / sat nav crystal clear at low volume so I bit the bullet and ordered some. Can't wait to give them a go Mind you at £170 not cheap - wont use I pod all the time, but hoping to kill time on long / sedate ride outs. Who knows, might get a scala next (did I just say that??? ;( )
I have spent 40 odd years in noise intensive industries and as a result suffer from industrial deafness, I wish the effects of continuous exposure had been raised earlier in my life. I now use the disposable ear plugs from work to try to prevent any further damage and have my hearing tested regularly.
Tried em a while ago but TBH, not being able to hear engine tone properly, i was looking at rev counter more to change gear, so ditched em, not for me but know plenty that wear em, no hearing problems yet even with my GP Pro!
I have never used them and i doubt i ever will. exhaust noise doesnt bother me, its just the wind that gets to me so i just buy a helmet thats good at reducing wind noise and all is good
How do you get the disposable ones to stay in they always fall out before I get my helmet on, am i doing something wrong!
Reach round the back of your head and pull your ear back to open it up will fit a lot better, I used to have the same problem.
That is where the ones with inserts come into play. They keep the noise low enough so no damage is done But you can still hear the exhaust , horns etc
