Can't see a thread that covers this so thought i'd start one. Mine comes in this weekend as we've just got the car back, and i'm planning to fit a new some new NGK plugs, air filter, replace a slightly corroded coil pack, fit a new lithium ion polymer battery, 90*deg tyre valves and a damn good clean / grease all the bearings and coppa slip all the bolt threads. A mandatory caliper and piston overhaul and may get the forks re-sprung and oiled. And finally repair one of the well nut lugs in the nose cone that holds the left hand mid fairing on, as it has cracked. So what are your winter overhaul plans ??
I've just got the Demon Tweeks book through the post and cant put it down Lee, MrsB reckons it's looking like I could end the credit crunch single handedly.
I'm hoping to fix a leather covered arse on top of the seat. I tried it a few times during the summer but nowhere near enough to get as comfy as I'd like with it.
As usual, I am struggling with trying to allow common sense to override my never ending desire to get my bike just how I want it. Having already spent far too much money on it over the last year I really should be saying "enough is enough" BUT........ I am considering one of the following list (want all of them but can not afford them all) : 1. New set of lighter wheels. 2. Work on the head to make her even faster, loads of money. 3. Custom paint job on my complete set of spare OE plastics , currently red and black. 4.New chain, gearing change ie new sprockets and speedo healer. 5. Front and rear brake upgrade. Option 4 is the cheapest and most sensible..........so I will probably go for new wheels lol.
Well I have a dilemma. Spend yet more money on the bike, Fit a p/commander and quickshifter. Or get the central heating done next year.Wife says heating. I could sell the hannspree bodywork, carbon hugger etc and put the cash towards my bling that way we both win.Watch this space.
Have just finished removing front brake hoses and calipers... gonna clean/overhaul calipers and fit shiny new Hel lines. And got a Gilles shift support coming.
So i've just spent the last couple of hours trying to remove the coil packs, 1 came out easy the next was awkward but the last two were welded in, what a job to get them out, once out i realised why.. corrosion the mother of all pains in the ass. 4 new coils and a set of plugs ordered.
mines in bits at mo this is what i have planned new exhaust new sprockits new chian new brakes new plugs full service plus what ever else i fancy
I'm thinking of selling my Dymag wheels and investing in a set if BST's .I had saved up for a rear Ohlins TTx shock but I naught a camera lens instead so that is still on the cards . Deffo getting the bike mapped before the season starts and then just keeping an eye out for bargains on line . Hopefully Craig spots some ex BSB kit for me and then who knows
my fully rebuilt engine got back to KL Malaysia today 190 rwhp look forward to getting it run in and hitting sepang
Mine needs... (and it is starting to look like a long list) Cam chain tensioner replaced (set for Friday at main dealers) Clutch cable replaced (have cable, and a mate who likes tinkering - dealer wanted an hour to do this) ECU and lock set swapped over (need to talk to Yorkshire Gooner) Clock bracket replaced - Have Michael Dunlop's allocated to me at dealer who built his race bike Smashed bodywork put in bin and mixture of new-to-me and some original panels re-fitted Disks cleaned or replaced (have brand new disks) Prob. due a set of plugs Oil and filter change Air filter cleaned up Seeing those coil packs I'll see about removing them and if mine look that guess replace them Once all that done it should be good for another few thousand miles, be they on track or touring!
Don't know how cuz the rubber seals at the top are a tight fit, but somehow moisture has got in and done this. The bike only done 26000, but the coil / plug chambers have cleaned up like new so no concern really, just glad i got it sorted now before it developed into something a hell of a lot worse, like pulling them out and only half coming out...
engine was 10 k to build originally for the isle of man , it done a crank so sent it off to be rebuilt , lots of bits you cant even buy as factory HRC bits , cost 3,500 for rebuild plus shipping , its built to BSB spec engine now , i have not had it on the dyno as only just arrived but his other engine's are putting out 188-192 so will have 190 or there about's
Well, so far this winter I've replaced the brakes with PFM Calipers and disks, fitted an Accossato master cylinder, replaced the stock sub frame for an HRC replica, fitted a gear indicator, removed the exhaust servo and replaced the stock steering damper with a GPR. I think that's it for now, although if I find a slipper clutch at a decent price I may be tempted!
Remove the snapped hugger bolt from my swingarm. Get the stuck engine mounting bolt sorted. Get the wheels off and powder coated gold. Might do the chain and sprockets (or maybe just the rear sprocket). Then start pimping my arse out down Middlesbrough docks because after Christmas, buying myself a camera, taxing the car (£215 for a Ford bloody Focus, anyone?), and paying for that lot I think I'll be stony-broke
