Evening, Just thought I'd better bring this to the surface again, just incase anyone hadn't seen it, now time is definiatly ticking away for booking the ferry, for anyone still giving this trip consideration? Ok, so far the numbers may not be the greatest?. It is after all a big ask for comitment at this early stage, thank you thefirebloke for the cheeky bump, but i just thought i'd bump this one again,just in case anyone has missed it? so far, i have two confirmed ready to book at the end of the month, and a couple of maybe's As said in his previous post, the firebloke is very well travelled around these parts, and whos knowlage will make this trip a memorable one, so if you have a bit of spare dough burning a hole in the pocket? get some details sent and ill book you/us a cabin. My surgeon friend at BVH assures me selling a kidney will be enough to fund this trip and a new blade to do it on. sorry for the shameless bump

I urge anyone who has the chance to do it... then do it! You won't regret it, its fabulous. I'm hooked now after last year.... cant wait to do it again, and if i wasn't going to Italy, i would join you in a heartbeat.
Totally agree - I have to go every year. Look forward to it more than the summer holiday Also would have been interested but already sorted mine... Think ill do Spain next year though, looks brilliant.
I asked quite a few mates to join us this year, as they wanted to go on this years Europe run.. They never let us know until i had booked everything a few mths later, even when i asked them to let me know ASAP (especially the hotels). I couldn't find room for them as 4 or 5 of the hotels are now full, as are surrounding ones. To get the good deals , i think it's imperative to book early, and that way can plan a route... i am a bit OCD like that though....
If anyone followed Teapotone's blog of his trip around the world he actually rides the road we'll be taking in Northern Spain. Now here's a man who has travelled far further than most of us, you need to hear what he has to say about this route. Google his name and watch his video of the N240/260 and listen to him gush about the "Epic" route From Santander across to Andorra. He reckons it's the best road in the world for bikes that he has ridden!!
planning the routes and trip Nov - Feb gets me through the winter.... something to look forward too and like you say gives you the most options and best deals if you sort early. dont know about you, but i spend hours on google maps coming up with routes and potential milestones to work out how far i can get and back in a set number of days lol
lol... thats bruce my pal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN0G0d1mqb4 he's coming scotland with us so will tell you all about it.... we have done some serious miles together in the past, and toured together every year since 2008 bar last year due to teapotone so i know the roads he has ridden and he reckons it blows them all out of the water!! he often reminds me i havent been he wanted to go back this year but we had already booked so he is reluctantly coming to the ring for 3 days, black forest, switz, route napoleon and 3 days in the south of france....
Totally agree Jimbo, but I tend to take a slightly different approach to the hotels. I don't book in advance, that way you're not constantly meeting deadlines getting to your next destination. If I like a place I can stay for another night if I fancy. It doesn't work for everybody but I've always found plenty of interesting places to stay, sometimes in a vibrant town like we'll be doing in Andorra or sometimes in a sleepy little village where you're rubbing shoulders with the locals which in itself can lead to other opportunities.

if i was going solo then i'd do this without question - however as i've pretty much put this years together for the lads (because i wanted too) and some hadnt done this kind of thing before i sent them all the info on routes and hotels so they have all signed up to everything prior so cant moan when we get there! wouldnt want the pressure of finding rooms for everyone last minute - guess works in smaller numbers? you ever struggle to get a place? how many you tour with?
honestly - thats a combo of all the best holidays / routes we've done - he decided to join us when he came back and i thought i'd pulled a bobby dazler when i told him the plan - he sulked as he wanted to go to spain!! that said, we will have a blast... and least it leaves spain for next year....
Only really toured with four peeps, works fine for such small numbers. I did spend my 40th in San Sebastian with 20 of us and yes we had to pre book in a converted 16th century barn. Only once did I struggle to find a hotel in France but it was because there was some kind of celebration going on that weekend. However it led to us staying in a sort of small chateau for around 35 euros a piece and turned out to be the best overnight of the trip.
I`ll definitely be doing the santander run next year... The only downer for me is that i`ve told the missus i`m only away for 5 days this year.. we are away for 10. She going to go positively apeshit.
ha ha ha last year i'd planned, booked, and sworn the lads to secrecy about the 2013 trip, lisa said I wasnt going / sorting it till we had our holiday planned (didnt have one together last year) 2 days after booking cuba just before xmas she asked "have you had any thought's if your going away on the bike next year" to which i rolled out a full route, itinerary and hotel list... she was very impressed i'd managed to sort all that in 2 days lol.... think there is someone on the scotland list who hasnt obtained a pass yet and that is soon upon him... so we all do it Si...
