Most tyres shops don't balance your wheels on motorcycle when new tyres are fitted? But its must on car's... What do you think?

Never do it on back tyres, but always do on fronts where any imbalance will be felt far more so.

When Ever I have had tyres fitted they are balanced. I have used fowlers, Pro Tyre and JHS racing in Bristol and always been balanced

Good question this. Both of mine have always been balanced as a matter of course when the tyres have been fitted. I must admit that the guy I normally use might be getting the heave-ho shortly though 'cos he always globs half a tonne of wheel weights on everytime he fits them. After seeing the amount he put on my car wheels last time (and feeling that they were out of balance) I took the car elsewhere and they laughed themselves silly and proceeded to balance the wheels with a tenth of the amount of weight he had on there.

In the future I was going to get one of these to use in conjunction with a paddock stand, buy some wheel weights and do it myself. Stupid idea do you think??

Always had both mine balanced. They just do it as a matter of course.

Why wouldn't you want them balanced?

Thats thing above is No good waste of money, not a lot of money but still a waste. I think all wheels should be balance saves a lot of money in long run on bearings

I bought a wheel balancer for the Ducati as local dealer does not have one for rear marchesini wheel, cost £90 imported from the states and is a work of art :)

    Ducati Motorcycle Wheel Balancer

He does others eg Honda as well ;)

Put it between two axel stands and its done in mins, so now I pop over to tyre place over the road bung the lad a fiver to swap tyres then balance myself :)

I LIKE the look of that, Jamie!

Almost worth getting just to look at.

FWR tyres in Kennington in London look after my tyres and bits and they always balance. Seems a tidy job.

Every time I have had tyres changed the fitters apply new weights as the norm this is due to the fact different tyres are of different weight and no doubt would cause viberations without this valuable add on .

If my wheels didn't get at least checked for balance when I had the tyres done I'd like to know why.

Always do front and rear . Rear is a yes by some no by others . I do my own as I found that shops ain't got the patience to let wheel setttle it heavy point etc and just bang loads of weights everywhere

why do you think it's no good?

both wheels should be balanced everytime, there are some that dont do the rear,no idea why as it can cause the rear to be unstable at high speed tun ins.

always do my own tyres+balance them, can b a pain sometimes to get it right but makes a big difference.

if "whoever" is changing your tyres and not balancing them, ask why, then tell tem thats bollox and to balance them.

I find a lot check the rear on the an say its so little you dont need weights.
must have been very lucky with the duke as it never had weights from factory
and only needed one small weight on the front.
never had any wheel vibration or wheel bearings give out one me....ever.

This has got me thinking, maybe I need balancing, as I tend to wobble about a bit each spring when the bike first comes out of hibernation.
