wonder if it was a biker passing learner drivers doing 113 MPH if they would get more or less of a ban ?
indeed - you could almost forgive him for the overtake, the tuck in and slam on / lock up the anchors in front of the bikes is what makes it real bad!!
The punishment he received seems too severe for what he did IMO. "banned for six months and ordered to pay fines and costs of £815."
think so also, but that fella got caught doing 120mph on his bike with his son and got jail didnt he? think it's more the fact it's never consistant that grates on people....
he obvioulsy saw the cop car/camera after he went past, hence the hard braking.,where the ABS though.....
There is often a police van parked up there and you can see it from a long way back, I suspect the anchors on was as a result of seeing the van? 120 along that piece of road does indeed make him a prat, there are kids on push bike families with push chairs etc walking the couple of miles from market raising to willy woods, chuck the book at him!
Yeah the fella with his son got six month. Sure another fella follwed by an unmarked bike got Eight months for 120 mph.
If, for instance, a van driver knocks a biker off, at very low speed, into the oncoming lane of traffic because "he didn't see him", would you consider that to be more or less dangerous than what this guy did? Also, what do you think the police (law's) view on the above scenario would be?
What about this then 6 months suspended........fcuking joke!! BBC News - Scott Sellars: Ex-footballer sentenced for death crash
So speed on a bike with a young pillion equals eight months But kill someone in a car and its walk away with a fine. ...unless Your a prolific criminal suspended sentences are worth feck all.
I don't understand why people use the case of the guy jailed for 6 months as an example. What he did was outrageous and he deserved what he got. You need to take all the circumstances into account. 122 in 60 = double the limit = bad In the pissing rain = worse With his son (a minor) as pillion = very very bad His son was wearing jeans and NO GLOVES = Jail time He got 6 months so will be out in 3. The next thing to remember is you pay for the degree of recklessness not the outcome. We all make mistakes on the road everyday. It's just that 99% of the time there are no consequences. It would not fair to harshly punish an otherwise law abiding citizen, for a momentary loss of concentration that we all make everyday, just because bad luck means someone got hurt. Obviously families of victims sometime find this hard to take but if you step back and think about it rationally it makes sense. In the same way the fact that no one got hurt by someone speeding or driving recklessly does not mean they should be punished. I don't buy the idea that judges are actively anti-biker. I think they look at the facts of each case as it comes. I also think we need to consider own behaviour. Believe me I like riding my bike in a spirited matter but there is a time and place and If I get caught I'll have to suck it up.
Fcuking joke is correct..the so called "law" in this country seems to depend on how much you can afford for a lawyer
Fair opinions, but I just don't agree with the above points. Only one of your 4 "bad things" is actually illegal and I think actions which do end in an actual accident should be more harshly punished than those which don't. Unfortunately, the opposite seems to happen.
We'll just have to agree to disagree. True and had he been doing 60 he wouldn't have been nicked. In my view he would still have been an idiot to carry his son like that but being an idiot isn't illegal. Once convicted the judge will take all the circumstances into account before passing sentence. This includes weather, traffic levels and the risk to other people. Had it been a dry day and he was solo the sentence wouldn't have been so bad. Here his actions put his son at serious risk and I'm sure this is what got him the prison sentence. The maximum sentence for dangerous driving is two years jail plus fine so it could have been worse.
Okay ignoring that case I can quote many others that have done nothing more than speed but received jail time and momentary lapse of concentration can be used for speeding so why was the case that results in a death treated lighter than speeding cases. Do I think the courts come down on bikers harder , definitely.i think if government could have there own way bikes would be banned Seeing they make up so much of the road death count. Sure why when we pollute the atmosphere less than some of the most economical cars out there do we still Pay road tax when they don't. .....why are our tests getting more parts and more expensive when car tests remain Unchanged. ....simple they dont want to encourage more people to taking to two wheels.we are a danger to ourselves And all other road users In their eyes.
To be honest we all exceed the speed limit, the video looks bad but surly the crime is getting caught? Im by no way advocating speeding in areas where there are children and pedestrians by the way! just saying that we all break the speed limit daily, its the manner in which we all speed, is it safe/is it not safe? If that stretch of road has children and pedestrians on it then he is as judged..........a total ****
