No as if it is direct to the concrete with just the visqueen under then you have ply on concrete but if the ripples formed by tamping the wet concrete with a long timber pole are too deep then you would have some packers to take out the levels but enough so the ply does not flex. Something else you could do which would take out the bumps prior to over lay would be to mix some sand and cement about 3 sand and 1 cement with a drop of fairy liquid and a bit wet, and float over the bumps until level this is not ideal from a builders point of view but once dry you would visqueen over and ply out .I did think about you using some dry sand all over losing the tamp marks but i am not sure this would not move about under the ply .All suggestions given are cost driven for you and not maybe considered if money was no object but would be a lot better than you have.
Martin, couple of questions about the stand. 1 - do you think it is better than an abba stand ? if so how much better ? 2 - Does the stand fit both sides of the bike or just the one side ? cheers bud Also i cant find the stand on bs motorparts or ebay.
I also have an abba stand and front lift which I have thought was the mutts nuts since I bought it, however now I can honestly say is so much better In my opinion. You just literally roll the stand up, pull the lever and both wheels up! Then you can strip the bike right down to the bare frame If you look at post from Steve betts there's a link to a vid he done which shows how quick and easy it slots in and lifts up Only lifts from one side but that's all you need
Top stuff, I saw that vid, very good. Just need to find one know, I can't find them on eBay or their website which seems odd
I dont think this stand is anything special at all, you're still gonna get a bad back working at that low height & you cant remove parts of the bike it lifts from. There are much better products out there. Sorry to pee on the fireworks men.
It lifts higher than any paddock stand I have ever used? And lifts from the frame so can pretty much strip the bike down so not sure what you mean
You cant remove the swingarm, or engine, as it needs a balance point. Its very limited in what you can do whilst bike is on it. I use this: Motorcycle Lifts | Motorbike lifts and Stands | Motorcycle Wheel Chocks and Stands | Harley Davidson Lifts and Jacks | Lifetime Guarantee The red one.
That's a good lift I won't deny that but I think for most of us we don't need to lift it that far off the ground, also I think one of the biggest draws with the constand lift is that you can move the bike around on it which is great for those with limited space or access. Out of those two I'd get the constand.
Looks ok but you would have to take your fairing off every time you use it, it would also lift by the exhaust/engine so not as convienient IMO, also I use my constands to store my bike off the suspension so ideal. I think you are comparing yours to the wrong type of product as this is to be used as a replacement to a paddock stand and is miles quicker, easier and more convienient to use. Yours I would say is to replace a bike ramp/lift and is probably much better than most of those But I have to disagree with you as these are 2 completely different products
I think its reasonable to compare products that lift a bike... As an expensive paddock stand, yours is fine, if you don't do your own maintenance. Btw, you can move the bike around whilst elevated, don't have to remove the fairing & also padlock it in the air, Makes it very hard to steal. I've even swapped oil filters without losing a drop of oil, can tilt the bike 45deg either way. I've had mine 14yrs now, lifetime guarantee & British. At least you guys know it exists now.
How do you lift it with the fairing fitted? It looks as if it lifts from underneath and all pics are naked bikes
Theres loads of pics of sportsbikes on the link I gave! My earlier thread too http://1000rr.co.uk/maintenance/2324-2.htm
I personally think its a different type of product as I said before, I personally benifit more from the stand I have but your type may suit other people's needs more i suppose
