I can see that it is a nice lift, but as others have said (although i don't have a Connstands due to me having a 954 !), most of us simply use it for cleaing the bike off the ground and for keeping all the suspension uncompressed and the tyres off the ground, nothing more. I know a few do their own servicing but most do not and for that kind of owner the Connstands would be excellent ( i just wish the buggers would make a bracket for my bike).
Just had a look at the site and looked at some of the mounting points, i have a sportsbike (Fireblade 954) and noted that on one of the demo's they lifted it from the exhaust headers (or under them), that was fine for the naked bike they used by for my 954 that would not be possible and even if it were, i am unsure that is the best place to have all the front weight of the bike.... are there any mounting options that use the same sort of pivot points like the Connstands and the Abba Superbike Stand ?
Constands are currently updating the power lift so maybe they are making brackets to fit more bikes aswell.
A couple of weeks back I purchased a Warrior Spider stand from our friends at Demon Tweeks and the Fireblade adapter that was supposed to fit it. Warrior Spider Stand - Demon Tweeks Warrior Spider Stand Adapter - Demon Tweeks £110, so I figured it's worth a punt. The stand itself seems pretty solid, but the adapter is all over the place. The top rotating sleeve sticks way out the frame and, surprise surprise, the lower locating rod is way too thin to locate in the lower bolt. I also cant get the bolts to line up with the holes in the adapter plate. I called DT and they said someone else with a Fireblade's got the same problem and they'll pay the shipping back. I dont mind keeping the stand and, as it looks identical to the Constands one, then their adapter should fit the Spider. I had a look at Constands site and they don't seem to do these lift stands any more...? Can someone help point me in the right direction to a shop etc where I can get a Constands adapter setup for the 'blade? Here's some pics so you can see how far the top sticks out and how skinny the lower rod is ....
Mine was a right pain in the arse to set up but once done its perfect, I think Steve betts has a custom made plate to fit the 08+ that he was trying to sell when he sold his blade. It was a much better design and easier to set up. Prob worth dropping him a pm
I think Constands took their version off the market for similar reasons, lack of thorough development before bringing to market!
I wanted a fitting kit for the SV but they told me they aren't making the kit currently. Constands say they will start producing again at the end of the year. I made the kit myself in the end.
No mate. I still have the pins I made and the original constands supplied bracket. I'm using the plate I made for the blade on the SV, with a small mod.
Well.... That sucks. The adapter plate fitted, but it's a shit stand. Can't get the front wheel to lift off the ground 'cos the adjuster doesn't have the leverage so it rotates as I lift the bike (see pics) Plus the lever adjuster screw bent in just a few lifts. Could have been so good too No leverage No leverage + bent handle bolt
Drop Steve Betts a PM..... he redesigned the adapter plate and machined better fitting pins.....I bought one from him to improve my Envy Stand (Still shit) but not as shit from when I first got it..... !! Ah I see you have been talking.......... !! sorry ........... Jesus posting this early is hard work !!!!!!
It should still work Callum. The bolt that fixes the the plate to the stand has to be tight. IIRC it's 100nm. If it still moves try re positioning the plate so the adjusting screw is much more horizontal. I used that very plate in my blade until I made the re designed plate. Don't give up it will work. Do you have a torque wrench? If not, use an extension on your ratchet to get good leverage and lock it up tight.
This happened to me at first I tightened the nuts on that top screw and wasn't supposed too! Believe it or not its just that bend in that screw that's stopping it lifting, Easy fix from now mate
I think I need to tap a hole in the other side of the mounting plate. I can't really move it any other way as the gear lever limits the mounting options (ooer) @martin It does lift... But only the bank end :banghead:
The bolt you have bent you need to remove and straighten or replace, when you wind it back in pull the jack up lever down slowly and watch the bolt as it gets jammed and bends! Just adjust slowly and test a bit at a time, trust me you have done the hard bit it's really easy from now
you may get away with it if you take the plate off and mount the pins on the opposite side. this will move the hole for the adjusting bolt to the opposite side.
