Bit of a long shot this one, but i cant be the only one that puts on gloves to do the mucky stuff! the question is... what is the difference between 1 Nitrile 2 Latex 3 Vinyl and more importantly what do you guys recommend, Ive only had vinyl before as thats all the chavs at the boot sale sell? But I think Ill hit ebay this time and there's choice galore. thanks
I use them when I'm working on my bike. I much prefer the latex ones. They fit tighter and seem to provide a bit more grip on stuff. I just buy mine from Halfords or local motor spares places.
I wear latex for those mucky moments .Put them on slowly as they rip easy but I use them for painting as well.
As a lab analyst I get a free supply of powder free latex gloves, I find when using turpentine to clean the chain they soon break out in holes, and i end up with the tips of my fingers oily.
I would imagine some materials are proofed against differing substances. I used to work with organic solvents and they would turn latex to slush in minutes. We supply gloves to colleges for darkroom use and they insist on nitrile ones for hypoallergenic reasons.
I always use nitrile, powder free as the latex powdered ones play havoc with my knuckles. Nitrile seems stronger and take more abuse imo
Use nitrile onlynow.Used latex for years but lately they have played havoc with my skin drying them out.I go one size bigger so they get aired.People cannot believe I fix cars and pushbikes and still have spotless hands and nails.
thanks people, ordered a nice box of nitrile gloves, seem popular and apparently the strongest. cheers
