lads im in a bit of bother with the qs on my bike it is a push pull one and it was set to race shift but put it back to road pattern and have the standerd shifter linkage rod on it but it has the knuckel at a mad angel so its grand when shifting up through to5th but to hit 6th you need to give it a good bang im thinking of cutting about 1/4 of a centermeter off the rod and will it be ok or is the 2009 model rod shorter and i could buy one on the net AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE ATTACHMENT WHICH IS JUST AN EXAMPEL THE RED CIRCLED AS 1 THE KNUCKEL ON MY BIKE IS AT THE 2 O CLOCK POSITION WHERE AS IT SHOULD BE AT THE 3 POSITION AND THE SHIFT LINKAGE ROD ITS LIKE ITS 2 LONG FOR IT JUST WONDERING IF I CUT IT DOWN WOULD I HAVE ENUF THREAT IN IT TO SCREW BACK IN THE SHIFTER TO THE ROD ARE THESE RODS THREADED THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH HOPE YE CAN HELP???
HM are traders here on the site Coley. Member user name Toby LeRone. If you call them, mention you're a member. They'll see you're alright. Otherwise, as Si suggests, ArthurBikemad is the capo de tuti capi of all things quickened shift related. He can put you right.
do the quickshifters come with a linkage rod or is it the standerd one used from your bike for it??if so would getting a standerd shift rod and the little knuckel that i have circled at the top of my example
When you get the HM shifter you usually measure the OE rod and let them know as you need to subtract 45mm (if I remember correctly) to account for the strain gauge to get the correct length, this usually means you have to cut the supplied rod to length once you get it Arthur can get the bits for you and give advice or Go to the HM website to order Hope this helps
Hello Shift rods can be got from HM direct or HM Racing, or me.... You can cut them down but check how much thread you have first, they are not threaded all the way though.
if i get it off the hm website what mesurment will i give the standerd shift rod lenght or -45mill for the strain gauge
which mesurment should i take and -50 then could someone let me know???? is it one or 2 on the picture
Measurement 2 (total length of the rod) then minus 50mm and order from HM eg my OE rod for the Ducati is 140mm (measurment 2) so I ordered a 90mm rod from HM once you fit the 50mm strain gauge the total length of the new rod 90mm and the strain gauge 50mm is 140mm like the OE rod was
