Well express want £364.20 for the year. protected NCB fully comp but 1k excess

Using go compare coming up at £190.35 fully comp protected with Bennetts, £600 excess so going to give them a bell tomorrow.

Anyone had any issues with Bennetts?

I don't think 47 years old is lucky 24 and a blade is lucky!! I'd be happy with your insurance bill and be 23 years younger :)

Although I am 24 in my head

Bennetts have a scary rep but I've been with them since 2007 and they've treated me fine. No arguments, paid the full insured value on my right off really quickly and dealt with a personal injury claim against me without any input from me whatsoever. They're on record as being dubious on mods though.

Well that was worth the time on the phone Bennett's £220.42 fully comp protected, Euro 60 day travel, £350 excess down from 1k. Exhaust, Crash bungs, Screen, Hugger declared. 35yo living in Bristol. so not a great area but not the worst by a mile

but the best thing was the guy said with them, as long as you buy a bike with say a aftermarket exhaust, Hugger, PC, and any mods then you don't have to declare it. it's only what "you have added"

You might want to check that. I didn't think that's the case, based off some letters into MCN and various bike mags. IIRC, the underwriters were only insuring against what was stock for the model with aftermarket bits counting as mods.

Of course, the situation may have changed now though as there was a piece a couple of months ago about different insurers' claims over what constituted a 'mod' as some were saying a tank pad was (!!) but I think that was just applying a bit of sense rather than stating dealer-fitted mods don't need to be declared.

    Jane,

Last year I had 2 Blades, yep I know that is sad, I insured them both with the same insurance company and agreed a combined mileage of 5k miles. The price was I think around £190 fully comp because I am a bit elderly ( over 50 but under 60) and of course you can only ride one bike at a time. The price would have been the same for 1 bike. I would therefore go for a combined insurance on both bikes.

has anyone had the phone call from MCE about 'extra' breakdown cover? The rang me a couple of months ago about the 'Honda' I have insured with them... I asked which one (Blade or the winter hack) and it took a while for them to decide which bike we were talking about... then they said my breakdown cover is only valid for recovery home within 10 miles of where I live????? and the extra recovery would be another £50 or so...I 'polity' declined and said I would be checking that part of the policy on renewal closely next time...as for the calls about 'my accident' i just put the moby on loudspeaker in the office and let everyone have a chat with them! The soon hang up :D

I asked them about this and we talked about the MCN comments. In the end I recorded what he told me, got the email so i'm happy but yes worth asking and declaring before you take out insurance

You lot paying early hundreds should be grateful!

Best quote I got was £817 through Bike Trader and underwritten by Aviva.

Me thinx, I'll be smart and ring Aviva direct in the morning (quote on Bike Trader was obtained at 11pm), so when I ring em first thing the guy says is what bike is it?
    I says a 2012 Fireblade!
He say's "Let me stop you there Sir, we can't insure that as it's a Group 20" etc
I say's "What ya on about? I've had a quote last night with Just Motorcycle Insurance and Aviva are the underwriters?
He say's, "Yeah I know but that's how the system works, Brokers can get better deals with us than we can direct!

Upshot was I went with the Bike Trader quote and accepted 'avin me pants down'.

Before anyone asks the reason why the premium is so high, it's purely because I have ZERO NCD.

I'm 45 have a clean licence and no accidents and 10 years NCD on a Car.

Should've insured a Bogseat 2 years ago for £20 and I'd now have a 2 year NCD to use against a Blade!

The whole Insurance industry Is a minefield, I have had the same experience as others here where I use go compare and get a better quote from the company i am already insured with than the renewal. When I challenged them I was told it was because they want to attract new customers. So they value new customers more than existing. My advice is never take your renewal at face value, shop around and you will always get a better deal.
