Sold my Honda Hornet today, to my local Honda dealer. Got a price that I was very happy with, especially considering that I would have to get the bike serviced if I was going to sell it privately.

Am a bit sad that it's gone - it was my first "big bike" after my DAS. Hopefully it will go to someone else who has just passed their test and needs a first bike :)

Here she is earlier in the summer - pretty old girl!

Left with the Triumph Speed Triple now, which is an amazing bike :biggrin1:

I've been looking at getting something along the lines of a hornet just to get to and from work, as i'm likely to be losing the use of my works van at some point.
Can I ask what kind of mpg you got from it on sensible runs?

Of course, no problems. I reckon I got late 40s mpg wise when commuting sensibly. It was a 17 litre tank and I always used to fill up after 100 miles so, usually sticking between 9 and 12 litres in.

It does go through petrol quicker than that when in the "business end" of the rev range - which is where it liked to be and I was happy to oblige! :D

Cheers for the reply, i've been looking at a few different models and i'm still unsure which way to go and also if a 600 is a bit of a case of overkill for a 20 mile each way commute

Bless all you youngsters. Took my test on a CB200. Had to drive figure of eights around trading estate while the examiner sat on a wall and watched me, with a clipboard in his hand. He stepped out and waved it from about 40 yards away when he wanted me to do an emmergency stop, so not a massive amount of pressure for the cable operated front disc to cope with.

And no, Giv', there was nobody with a red flag walking in front of me. They'd abolished that the year before. 90bhp bikes were considered exotica then.

When I took mine test I think they'd not long started following you on a bike with a one way radio, so i'm guessing i'm a tad younger than you!
    I think I took my test on a NSR125.

Blimey no. The closest I've ever got to parenthood is being the slightly wicked uncle.

Yikes, I am a youngster compared to you two (arrived in 1975, a fine year).

Didn't get my bike licence until I was 32 :(
