Any of you ever actually been stopped for an exhaust?? Just interested cos I've heard lots of people talk about illegal exhausts and so far in my 4 years/50K miles of riding I haven't been stopped, nor have my friends and I've never seen anyone getting done. Do coppers in Yorkshire just have some actual sense? What's the score here Cheers
Spose it depends on whether ya thrapeing through town on the back wheel at 9000 rpm or cruising sensibly through at 3k!

Baffle out on every can and dark visor.never stopped for either But did get told off for a really small plate so I have a plate Now thats slightly smaller than standard and haven't had any Run in's since
In west yorkshire you are ok , but a soon as your wheels stray into the anti bike police state of north yorkshire they will do you . About 3 times a year they will pull every bike with a noisy can, that leaves squires cafe at sherburn and relieve you of your hard earned wages. They are also really keen about reg plate size , they even carry around a correct sized plate to put over yours to show you that you are the worlds biggest criminal .
Got pulled .for speedIng and nicked Warned me about plate and told me to change it before I use bike again Didn't mention exhaust < baffle out > And didn't mention black visor
I live in york and didnt know it was this bad! I know in the summer months especially on a sunday stay away from squires and seaways cos they wait in ambush!!! I know if you ride past and get pulled in by plod waiting for you your pretty much foooked but i meant followed and stopped really, by traffic cars.
GOt pulled in North Wales a few years ago, was carrying baffle but been unable to fit it (poxy angle of the screw head) - =fine
There is no noise limit on the roads, they can however fine you for breach of peace (or something along those lines) if it is a loud pipe. If they start getting funny about your silencer not having a BS stamp on it, ask them to show you BS stamp on the exhaust on their car...... That's right, it doesn't have one!
What winds me up is all these lads my age going around in "run down to tescos" hatchbacks with straight through pipes doing donuts outside toys r us and they dont get bothered! Ive even seen some putting macdonalds trays under their rear wheels! what is the world turning into..
i filtered to the front of a queue of traffic and pulled in behind plod who then getures me thru window to come alongside which i do he says"tell me your going home wi that visor" i reply "yep i am" lights change and he gestures me to go 1st which i do and i think oh fuck wait till he sees my plate! he follows me for about 2 miles,bet he was doing a check on me n bike but no pull lets me go,so depends on the copper i guess.
6 + years riding and always with the baffles out and fruity exhaust, passed many police over the years and never had a issue my fav exhaust was my Zard on my Speed Triple. no good on track but sounded epic
my Mrs old man just got a harley and that has to be at least twice as loud as any super bike exhaust i've ever heard and that's straight from show room?
Nope, North Wales did have a bike hating commissioner in charge who had a campaign against bikers, wanted bikes banned off the road and from all the tourist spots, I think he's gone now but the legacy remains. North Wales definately aint the place it used to be. Unless you go to the Angelsey circuit of course.
