Hi guys, has anyone with a pair of sidi vertigo had the problem of them marking the swing arm?? Reason I ask, is that ive noticed fine scratches by where my heel is positioned... :-(. I ride with my toes on the pegs, and the scratches are from the small screw where the heel rubbers are.. I can either put carbon covers on the swing arm, or just live with it... Any suggestions??? Thanks!
I've had this on a different bike. You could always get some pieces of Ventureshield and protect the swingarm using them. You'd still be able to see the colour of the swingarm through the film then. I've used Invisible Patterns for my Ventureshild film and had good service from them.
I have had this also on various bikes i just stick them black dots on or oblong shapes they are quite hard wearing perhaps more than the Ventureshild which is more for impact .I think you can get clear as well.
As stated, some sort of cover. Perhaps get some stick on carbon fibre patches etc? As you stated, is there a carbon cover that would fit?? I suppose it all depends on whether you just ride the bike and marks etc are part of its history/ownership or if the bike is your pride and joy and you cant stand it getting marked. For me the odd mark or stone chip is not a problem. So long as the bike is perfect in use, engine suspension, tyres etc.
Cheers guys... The swing arm is silver, so a black dot will look poo. I'm thinking these: I already have the frame covers, but I think that the swing arm covers may be a bit too much??
IMHO, those swing arm covers are a bit overkill, but each to their own Not sure about the dots and oblongs Givover is suggesting - I think he's suggesting the sections that you might get in a tank protector kit? I'd have thought they wouldn't be large enough as your heels aren't going to rub in exactly the same spot each time.... I'm sure Ventureshield will be up to the task as it is strong enough to withstand being punctured. I'm sure it can take whatever your Sidis will throw at it Good luck getting something sorted.
Don't suppose there's anything you could get to cover the tops of the screws in the Sidis ? How about a blob of silicone over the screwhead???
I went with what megawatt said, but the silicone came off so I stuck some Velcro over the heels/ screw and all is good. Mine only touch the silver heel plate but noticed the screw was scratching it. Do the boots not the bike IMO .
To be honest, I wonder if it really is the screw and not just the heel of the boot? On my Vertigos, the screw is quite recessed from the plastic heel cover. I reckon you'd have to get the boot and swingarm together at a certain angle, pressing them together for the screw to make contact... If your screws aren't recessed, might be worth a slight "nip" on them.
With the carbon covers you'd probably be just as annoyed once they start getting scratched, it isn't like they are cheap enough to change on a regular basis.
I've put some soft Velcro on the screw on the boots.... Hopefully it won't get any worse. Thanks guys!
That's what I've done si, my piece is quite big but deffo stops it marking. When funds allow I'll be getting a set of tech r s and stuff thecost
I have had the exact same problem. I just fitted some small patches of carbon fibre sheet on both sides of swing arm, it looks ok. However after reading this, I will not get rid of it and fit some soft stickers to my boots instead, thanks guys.
