But it's not just the lack of NCB that may affect you, I'm in a very low risk job, care manager. My ages is going the right way or wrong but the only thing I don't have going is the Bristol postcode. 1/2 mile awa is the border for south glos and could be cheaper again As said a minefield that is insurance
Im guessin that is fully comprehensive cover?? I got £500 TPF+T with 2 years NCB. I would argue that some of the most dangerous riders I see are in their 40s!! This age thing is bollocks lol
Yes it is for fully comp. I run my own Electrical/Air Conditioning Contracting Company and live in a nice low risk Cheshire postcode, so unless my occupation goes against me I don't see what else there is not to like? At 3000 miles per annum I'll be counting the cost at 30p/mile! Anyway I banged in a 1 yr NCD just to see what diff that would make and got 15 companies back quoting rather than just three! Best price next year then with a years NCB (all being well) will be around £500 so that's getting there.
Yeah that's me coming back to riding, I've been riding since late sixties, then had a lay off in mid eighties while I did the family thing. Then a couple of years ago my son passed his motorcycle test and that got me into it again, there's nothing quite like going on a ride with your son. The shock to me was how bikes had evolved since I last rode, they are in another class now. Had to bite the bullet with the insurance, with not riding had to start with no NCD, got two years now so it's better.
Just bought a new policy with MCE. Bennett's was quoting a renewal premium of £1,900. HAHAHAHA!!! I called them to tell them NOT to renew, she said they'd try a better value... 2 seconds later, she says £1,300. I laugh again, I say let me shop around, as MCE quoted me just under £700. I told her to put the policy down for NOT auto-renewing. Called MCE based on my comparethemarket quote, he pulled up details, I asked about mods / accessories, he said no matter, if the bike gets damaged / stolen, they will only pay back for original equipment. I startted listing them and he said no matter, so No probs for me... Or am I being naive?? So, yeah Full Comp, 5 year NCD, at £680, up to £825 paying £70. monthly... That's good for me!!!! Only thing is, I am still very hesitant to install the PC3 I bought... I think it is because I read on here that in the event of a claim that they may invalidate the claim if there is a mod that could have contributed to the claim... Thoughts on this anyone?
I had the exact same conversation with MCE and am still none the wiser, basically you or I will find out if we are unlucky enough to bin it, I have cans and PC3 on the 1098 which I did inform them of but they just ignored the fact so it must be ok !
your lucky, at 24 I could only wish to own a blade and insure it, I had a CBR600 at 24 and was paying £350 TPFT and that was 14 years ago, the second year the insurance shot up to £700 so I had to sell it and get a Hornet.
It's no use saying 'The Guy on the phone said it was OK' when they refuse ya claim because of undeclared mods. If they say it's fine then get it in writing, end of!
Yup me too. Passed in 94 and had LC350, CBR6 and a couple of R1s. Stopped in 2000, but never got it out my system Still had recurring riding dreams ... Gave up resisting in the end
Wow i'm lucky 5 year NCB 350 excess and grand total of 183.77 OK once i put leather cover breakdown, legal and personal cover, protective NCB every possible extra on £291.30 ( i only do everything it as mate got knock off his..... covered his wage for 3 month, all new leathers a lid and picked bike up... plus he last the keys and got em replaced) i'm 31 though
Had the SV, Swinton quoted £199 when I chopped it for the 'blade - TPF&T (only 1 quote available as it has an aftermarket can). SO I canned them, had to pay £77 for the privilege, and now insured with Bennett's £77 quid for the year. The advantages of being old!
Did you declare the non standard race rep paint as I made enquires about doing this and the premiums increased considerably ? IF so who did you use ?
~£1200.... 2012 C-ABS Blade... Black... 2 yrs NCB after having my '11 600RR nicked from Whites Row last month... H
