If so could this be done by invite only? IE: you want to join just ask. maybe for only members with 50+ posts? If we do get a 18+ board. What must still be kept off the forum? IE: no hardcore. :mod:
The trouble with issues like this is, whats to stop someone joining and not putting the correct year of birth making them seem older than what they really are?
My concern is, do we need to post anything here that would warrant concern. We all enjoy a certain amount of risque banter, yes, but I think I made my thoughts clear on a previous thread after I was guilty of joining in with a series of posts that may well have crossed the line of 'bad taste'. After I reflected on the comments made concerning it I concluded that, in my opinion, posts of such content do nothing to add to the community beyond the quick laugh level and so, in order to not cause any bad feeling, they are unnescessary in this place. So my view is that we don't need an over 18's area because we don't need to post anything that needs a censor.
Indeed. I'd like to think that anything I post on a forum wouldn't cause anyone offence (not the same as a difference of opinion) - just like if I were to say something in real life to someone, I also would not want to cause offence. It's not difficult at the end of the day - think before you hit the "post reply" button.
It's got to be about common sense hasn't it. We're all grown up and intelligent enough to know that political correctedness is a marketing excercise designed to keep beureacrats in their worthless jobs and I'm sure we're all capable of regulating ourselves should we get over zealous in our humour. I'm sure that Caz or Nutty don't take offence when we generalise each other as 'guy's' and I'm equally sure that nobody was offended at the pictures of the muppet that thought spinning his wheel up and spraying his chain would be a great time saver. Why? Because we're already doing a pretty good job at moderating our behavior and have an innate understanding of what this, our peer group considers acceptable content, we just need to maintain our awareness of where the line is. One of the reasons I love this site is that compared with many of the other forums I've 'attempted' to read, and I'm using the word advisedly here, it is witty, intelligent and coherent. The sentences are structured and not built of 'text speak' and, in the vast majority of cases, difference of opinion is invited and respected. Okay, that's seven reasons, but I'm talking about English here, not Arithmetic. I think the self regulation of content is just the logical extension of these plus areas and I'm confident that it's something that the assembled members will continue to take in their stride. God (sorry), I don't half talk some bollocks (sorry) at times.
Honestly??? Why on earth would an under 18 year old be knocking about on a fireblade forum? If they are then frankly theyre either A: dreaming B: lying about their age Honestly, if you ride a fireblade then you 'should' be mature enough to handle any level of content, if your not then sell the bike because your asking for trouble. Failing that good luck to you, obviously somebody's bank rolling your ride & insurance...in which case do your parents wish to adopt me?
I think it would not do any harm as it is just an option for Bike blokes and Wimmin who like a little extra light relief after a hard days work to tune into or NOT .It doe's not have to be Porn videos as we all know were they are ask Ken! opp's!.Having said that this is the only Forum i have been on so i can't comment on others ,however how long will it be before we have explored what front sprocket ,What brake lever bla bla.I have posted a few funnies on here and i hope you all like ,but i am also a biker through and through and this is what turns me on .So to summerise if its there enjoy if its not your thing keep away from it. Now where are my leather pants?.
Just keep text talk off the forum please.. that really gets my goat, and I'm happy with anything else you want, but hey I've not been on here 5 minutes nor do I own a fireblade.. yet.. so not really for me to say :dirol:
I'm with kpone, Dan & Sossige on this one - If you wanna crack one off to some 'Jonny Vaughan', then you wouldn't go to a bike forum to do it. On a separate note, I've not been a member of the forum long, but it's apparent to me that the general tone & demeanour of the regular members here would make having an 18+ section slightly inappropriate - however, there are other forums that do have them, and it fits with them. Thing is, once you add one, how do you regulate what is & isn't appropriate? Everyone have vastly different opinions of what is & what isn't acceptable, so it would be a minefield for moderators! Good conversation topic though.
Better trade in the Gixer & go get yourself a Blade then Caz (I would recommend waiting until the darkest, nastiest Sunday in January, then turn up at a dealer 20 minutes before closing time with a screaming toddler - they'll give you the deal of the century, just to get you out of the door).
The only reason this I posted this was that it was suggested on another thread. As I go on the forum in work and home having pics of naked/topless women on a forum is not great for me. If we had a 18+ section i could keep off it until i get time to check it out
I think you hit the nail on the head in the thread you started tackling the topless photos mate. Its not what the forum is about and everybody agreed . We are all here because we love our bikes and enjoy helping others with theirs. I think we have a good atmosphere here and the forum is heading in the right direction. It is by far my favourite forum and i don't feel as comfortable on any others .
I may not post very often but I read all the new posts daily. My veiw is simple, if I wanted to look at topless women I would be reading the sun or sunday sport, my hobby is my blade and so far this forum has proved to be informative and interesting. Consider how many followers would be put off by a less than family atmosphere, the site is growing for good reason lets not compromise its current success?
