I have some spare exhaust wrap kindking about from when I had my Subaru and was thinking of polishing up the exhaust, giving it a bit of ACF50 then wrapping them when I put the Akra on. Anyone else wrapped their exhaust or d'you keep them all nekkid?
Noooo .... Don't do it, it was done on mine ... this link should be a before & after ... http://1000rr.co.uk/pictures-videos/73-28.htm Bought mine with a full jardine system... Although I havn't taken it off as it's now covered properly. The one other thing as the above post hints at is that it appears to absorb moisture, so when I start mine in the morning there's a cloud of steam until it's self dried - which doesn't take long.... I really don't know the merits of it but I would suggest you don't need it... imho of course.
Mine's a 2010 so the wrap would be mostly hidden underneath I think (still to look properly) The idea behind it is that it's supposed to prevent heat soak which protects anything near to the exhaust (esp electricals) In a car it also keeps the under-bonnet temps down - which means it runs better (but irrelevant on a bike) The oher thing is that, because it keeps the heat inside the exhaust - that helps the gasses flow through better. It works well on a car. It works reeealy well on a turbo car Just wasn't sure if it would work so well on a bike.
Callum, I can't comment on the pro's & cons of performance, it got to do some good surely otherwise it wouldn't exsist... My comments are purely personal tastes on asthetics, mine as you can see is 99% covered so alls good!
