Just posted this up in the 'Mods and accessories section' - any thoughts on some kit for Scotland or just a bit sad with us in 'matching' ProTeam kit? I remember there was much talk about a 'forum fleece' or similar / hoody etc. Saw this site and the kit looks superb and if we got the discount its fair / good value http://www.hondaprouniform.com/ I wonder if a local embroidery place would then add text to it - like '1000rr.co.uk' or 'Scotland Tour 2013' (or both!) IN my experience having lettering stitched on is fairly cheap, but set up costs for logos etc is huge. What do you think ? I think the Scotland trip in May will be possibly the biggest collection of Fireblades on tour in the UK - I wonder if Honda UK would want to support in some way or even get some professional pics - great advert for the brand and bikes abilities. Guess Honda have to approve each 'team' to buy the kit?
Good call Al or maybe your mate at Hunts could sponsor us .Now that would win him some browny points over the competion (Dobles) cough! and i am sure the MCN would cream themselves for the spread.
Dobles sell 3 times as many blades has hunts , there's no competion what so ever , Just had a look al , I think it's a good idea , we should do something , When I picked my bike up there was mcn stuff all over the shop , Seems like dobles and mcn are quite close , Oh and dobles are mcn dealer of the year 2011,2012 .
Nice find Al, I need to get myself something for on top of the leathers in case of rain. My only gripe about this is that I feel that it may get a bit OTT with any kind of coverage of our trip. Surely we could sort something out after the trip regarding any kind of write up in a mag or paper (if that's what we want to do). There will be pictures a plenty (by some people who really know what they are doing), and if we all take some notes after each days riding of our thoughts and what it meant to each of us, and then compile it together for an amazing read. Do we really want everyone and they're granny knowing about this trip???
Just a thought Al, my sister is a seamstress and been recently made redundant, she'd be glad of the work.
I'd rather give someone the work that is in need of some. Just need to make sure that she has the tools for the job and doesn't end up struggling trying to get it done.
She's totally professional Colin and nothing like the mob at Underworld She makes wedding dresses for a living and sewing "badges" onto a hoodie will be child's play for her. She has her own sewing and overlocker machines.
ok, so we would need badges made up then attached, rather than buying the garments and having them embroided directly?
All sorted, almost had to cancel and work the weekend and Monday - may still need to make an early depart and swift progress home (or to work) on the Monday morning though and work that evening but save a days holiday! Just need to pay up now!
Right today I can confirm that MCN will do a feature of us on this tour , Nothing will go in MCN before the tour , when we are back they require pictures of us and a day by day write up ,I don't know if we will get half, one or even two pages but I know we will be in it , also I've been in touch with dobles and they are going to give us 6 polo shirts and 6 caps , I know its not enough for everyone but I'm more than happy with this (they could of said bugger off ) plus if any body needs anything for the trip they will offer us / you 10% discount off items , plus if we are interested they will offer a tracker system for one rider so they can do a live feed so anybody off forum or there website can follow us over the tour to see where we are , but I'm not too sure about that bit to be honest . So there you have it MCN feature when we are back , dobles polo shirts , caps and 10% discount , So give them a ring if there's anything you need .
Great work Barney and well done .No cap for me though as it might flatten my barnet and i have to look as good as Si in them photos.
Glad to hear that you can make it mate. Especially with all the help you have given me on organising this trip. I owe you a pint. (yes that's right us Scots do actually dig into our pockets)
Blimey - I'd better replace the duct tape and cable ties before May although looking leaving it looking like some of mad max bike does add some hero points! Anyone coming with a decent camera as I'm guessing they will want some good pictures to use? Will have to think of some good spots - its prob. worth trying to plan a couple of big group shots and taking a bit of time with line ups etc. The Lecht ski area is possible - huge car park and normally empty. Applecross sea front is also stunning or the road up the pass - again have to think where to put camera but good 'action shot' potential of a line of Blades going up the hairpins Commando Memorial tends to be quite busy and not good for bike parking Green Welly very well know and likely to be busy - The Waterfall on Glencoe in the cutting has a large parking bay but maybe not ideal place to stop on way through. Prob. worth looking through 'Ride' and 'Bike' mag at what techniques they use - also ask MCN what aspect they want to feature in the article. Do you know if MCN have read / seen this thread?
MCN have not seen this thread that I know of , but dobles have and like it a lot . I shall be bringing my camera ( rude not too ) I already know what pictures I/we need ,
I`m supposed to be doing something simular to this at the end of August, think there is 22 bikes, 21 R1`s and my blade Think the route is pretty close to what you lot are doing, hope you all have a great time... wish I was coming
Ok guys and Gals I think I'll send out some pm's this weekend, remembering those who have not payed for the trip yet, that the dead line is the 1st of March. That way those who are in the reserve list may get a chance if anyone falls through. Only fair considering how long this has been planned for.
