Looks like the miserable winter weather's been doing its work on some of the roads round here. I had a drive up to Helmsley with the missus on Valentine's day and it was shocking even in the car. The road looks like it's been carpet bombed
I don't usually do conspiracy theories, but do you think the state of our roads are something to do with the local authorites trying 'natural' traffic calming? With a (we will get to is as soon as we can attitude) they appear to be doing their job? Quernmore last year suffered in places the red carpet effect. They painted road markings/warnings on the surface and they were like bloody speed bumps, 10mm thick some of them. This winter has been nothing compared to the last couple we have experienced! Shoddy carriage way repairs made to already failing road surfaces and bases are a joke, they do not withstand the traffic they are intended for.
Exactly the problem, mate. See how they thick they make the road bed in Germany compared to here. It's ridiculous.
Travelling in France sometimes makes me think it wouldn't be a bad idea if we went down the toll road route. Their pay-to-drive autoroutes are immaculate. I'm sure that quite a lot of us, if we had the choice of the congested, poorly-maintained national highway for free or paying £3.00 to drive on the well-maintained and lighter-trafficked toll road, would choose the latter.
Fill them with Innes and plant them out with brightly coloured flowers. If they won't fecking fix them at least it'll make them easier to avoid.
I think my local council has received an extra grant off the Government for road maintainance and pot holes in particular but are they going to spend it "on the roads"?
We dont get free roads to drive on what do you think the road tax is for. Anyway i hope they have got as much tarmac as they have salt to put on the roads.I hit a hole in the road last week in a works car both near side tyres gone there was a car already there that had hit the same hole 2 days later they filled it in .As for repairs they seem to just put topping tarmac in the old hole without cleaning or cutting away the old tarmac
