Will also post here for anyone else's interest... Basically I realised the fit was an issue immediately, as I wanted to check where to lock the hooks into the stand - I put them as far in (as far apart) as possible and locked them with the allan key bolts... Then I just laid it on it's side, put my foot on one leg, and pulled on the other... Didn't move much, to be honest, but you only need about an inch or so in total, as your fit shows just on the insides of the bobbins, so half inch each side = 1 inch total... I did that once, checked it, then did it again, and now it is perfect... Here are the only pics I have of the bike on the stand... Hope that helps... I can measure hook to hook when I get home and let you know... If that would be more helpful...
No, I pulled the verticals... I laid it sideways, and put my foot on one hook, then pulled on the other hook So I pulled apart the bars that are hooked to the bobbins... Then made sure the bolts were still tight near the wheels... I sent an email to your address above... It has my mobile number, give me a call if you like... Will be on bike from 5:30 to 6:15 though, so can't answer then...
Right! All sorted. I layed it on the floor and pulled each side.. Stand now fits the bike.. I will try the front tommrow - I assume it's easy to get the front up? Thanks guys..
Hey, For the above mentioned skirt wearing among us you could pull the standard scissor jack out the car n use that to spread the arms. Regards shiny
Nice, i am looking for a solution to lifting my front, i have a 954 and also have an Abba stand, it is really great for the rear but although i have the front lift it does not work well with the 954 as the exhaust headers do not go parallel down to two pipes so it is not stable, i wanted to get a front paddock stand so in winter all my tyres are off the floor, i would have like to have unloaded the suspension at the front but don't like the idea of the headstock stands....... there seems to be a bit of debate how easy they are to fit and tales of damaged plastics etc.
