I would buy a second set of guages an fit them then ride it! If I were to get really anal about trying to keep it pristine looking I would also get another set of wheels/disks so they dont show any wear eaither! Or get it hooked up to a bike simulator in the living room like them at the NEC!
Never had that, but I have trapped my thumbs a few times between the tank and bars. Ouch !! Oh and I'll soon sort the slidey seat with a custom number, and some tank grip to stop the bruised knackers.
I had the squashed thumb too. Thinking I was clever after finding the lock stops were adjustable, I fiddled with them to try and improve the super tanker turning circle. Sat on it and maneuvered it backwards into the garage. Front tyre hits the edge of the drives concrete pad and smack. Turns out I wasn't clever I was a twat.
