I've fitted my 520 conversion and while my 15/44 setup is awesome on acceleration, my ride was cut short as my chain doesn't seem to be running too smoothly. Boo hoo Rear wheel alignment is spot on and correct play in chain. I'm wondering if if fitted the front sprocket the wrong way round (larger lip collar on the inside/outside?) or, the chain guide on swing arm isnt compatable for the 520 chain.... I'm gona pop the sprocket cover off and take a peek. Anyone experienced similar? Thanks
After checking. I've fitted the sprocket with the larger collar on the inside, stamped lettering on the inside. Spinning the wheel by hand all seems okay. Running bike in first gear on paddock stand and chain seems jittery. Riding on the round it seems a bit noisy (for brand new) and when looking down, & trying not to crash, the chain doesn't look to be too smooth. Cheers
i know it's new but make sure theres no tight links, also the chain will stretch a bit at first so check tension again.
Why do we spend our hard earned pennies on doing these things knowing that those clever Chinese chappies have spent hours & millions so we don't have to?? I've flipped sprocket so large collar and righting (lol!) is on the outside. Chain still not happy & seems noisier. Tomorrow I'm going to fit front 16 giving me 16/44. Sod the noise and I'm putting the unhappy chain down due to the chain guide on the swing arm. Next spend will be a speedo healer. Either it was extremely unaccurate on Saturday or I've been a very very naughty boy!
nowt to do with the chain giude. have a look at the split link and make sure you/whoever hasn't pushed the link plate on to tight, causing a stiff link.
