Yup .i have a Falcon light hunter 177 for pigeon ,Rats ect and it will take out a rabbit with a good shot I am thinking about an upgrade and maybe some night sites anyone got one or even better some land I could clear for you (local )
I can recommend a Theoben mate. I had 1 for over 10 years (just gave it to my cousin) and loved it and still looked brand new. It was the gas ram type (basically works the same as a spring type but without the spring). They are a bit expensive but they will last a lifetime. Well, I've still got my trusty old Gamo Magnum .22 that my Dad bought me when I was 13... still does the biz with rats and hopefully a bl**dy grey squirrel that seems to have taken a liking to my loft...
Maybe just a tadge over the top for the odd squirrel Ken but there again I suppose a clean kill would be a conclusion .
Ta Colin I looked at these when I bought mine and they are very similar and mine has the divers air bottle to top up its just had its 5year test just got the bug again but need a friendly farmer with some vermin issues .
reminded me to get my walther CP-88 8 shot semi out from the loft , need to get some more co2 cartridges for her not in same league as you guys though
I've got a few rifles in my armoury (with the absolute distain from the mrs) For hunting I use my trusty BSA Superten For targets my Daystate MK3 FTR Both I'd had for nearly 10 years, apart from the batteries on the Daystate both have been bombproof. If I had the money deffo go for a newer daystate hunting rifle like the airwolf or huntsman, once you've tried an electronic trigger you'll never go back!
Theobens are very good if you can find them.Not alot of people sell them on cos they are one of the best.I prefer to pigeon shoot or clay shoot.
For hunting deffo a mil dot with IR (Illuminated Reticule), mine is a 6-24x50 IR Option Zero, it is an old scope but it's been in all weather and the optics are still perfect. Had Nikko and Hawke, no problems with them either I spent so much on the rifles I had to compromise with the scope, never really found the need to spend big buck on a scope. Generally I have a laser mounted on the scope, this helps me range find as the laser and cross hairs meet dead on at 35yards. I used to shoot every weekend, but my main shoot was bought up by a developer, havent really shot since then - the rabbits/pigeons must be having a field day!
All depends on what your main quarry is going to be Giv? For me personally if the 12 gauge or even the trusty 4/10 wasnt an option for the quiet work it's always been about the Weihrauch range of rifles, but like most farm boys I had a .177 for 'plinking' that's your closer range squirrels, 'didnt get that many squirels on the fens' so mainly roosting pigeons rats etc mainly, but if I had a little bit of heavier work I'd bring out the 5.5, for higher/longer targets rabbits, carrion etc. I've been a stickler for clean kills ever since I experienced a rather fucked up dispatch of a sow in my younger years. Also worth a mention. Your rifle ain't nothing without a decent set of glasses. Personally I'd buy a quality second hand rifle that's been well loved. The range of air rifles about now you can realistically save a bit on the wood and metal and spend that little bit more on the glass. I've all but steered away from the hunting/fishing game now a days, but when I was single I frequently used to load up the tackle and guns into the then trusty ford granada and head east for a week at a time carnage, it helped when. I had near 8 thousand acres at my disposal to get my fix 'Reptile' a forum member on here and also my cousin is farm manager and it was very easy to gain access for me. I used to do the journey for security reasons in one, but one particular time I had the shits and I stopped off at harshead moor services on the M62. Dunblane was still ringing in the presses ears so I did the right thing and went to the police station situated at the back of the services and asked them to watch the car, much to the sergeants bemusement he ambled across and said what's the big deal, I opened the boot and his face was a bloody picture when I showed him the boot fully loaded 1000 cartridges 1 12 gauge beretta double barrel 1 12 gauge berreta single barrel 3 shot semi 1 4/10 and two air rifles.
[/IMG] Just a bit of rabbit crow squirrel ect used to do a bit but not on your scale mainly due to permission but i have my share out of the bedroom window .I cant really justify a new one but you know what its like when you start reading the mags its usualy this time of the year when i change bike s so it could be something within but i am not willing to chip over 5k just to sit on a new reg.
