im not too bothered about it being brand new as i actually like the 08/11 models better than the 12+, yes i hear alblade racks up the miles and makes my 12.5k sound rather pathetic lol

this is what i have in mind, what do you think ?

Gorgeous mate, absolutely gorgeous! I do like the latest models myself but I'm also a fan of the TT Legends paint scheme.

Fez - just buy genuine plastics and have them painted and fit to your bike - then maybe quickshifter / rear gear it etc. and happy days - that does look stunning

THe cam chain tensioner is the first thing to need replacement engine wise in 60k, and even that is classed as a service item by Honda I think.

The rear spocket bearing was caused by overtight axel nut and I spiked the ECU, that's all I've had play up - all else is wear and tear

Fez if you want to change your bike, you will be getting the same with less miles on it.Me personally I would buy a genuine bodykit in the colour you want or get them painted in the colours you want.Mines a Hannspree kit but a black n white original.Originals are mint and wrapped up and stored.I may get another bodykit in black to go with my black frame and swinging arm too. They all look stunning in whatever colour you choose but don't buy a repsol, you will be going backwards:D

I got finance on my 600rr with Close Motor Finance, 2% flat rate over 3 years but due to my age at the time 21/22?? I had to have a cosigner which was actually my dad, so if I couldnt pay up he would be held responsible. This is a way for you to get accepted if you can find someone willing to do it for you. Then when I got the blade I paid off my 600rr and added the new bike onto the same finance so kept the good rate. I didn't require any other signature than my own for this guessing because I'd paid up every month for the last two years with no hassle.

    Hope it helps.

I think my problem might be that i have never owned a credit card so i doubt that my credit score will be very good

I bought mine on finance last time, Fez. I just got a credit card with 0% on purchases for 15 months and paid it off over the course of that time so that when it came to the end of the interest free period it was clear.

I dont even have a phone contract. i might look at a 0% credit card but im not in any rush just yet so i will just keep my eyes open for a cracking deal. even if that means waiting for next winter as walking into a dealers in winter with cash in your hand will get me quite far

I can't imagine why you'd want to change yours anyway, mate. It's a really nice bike.

I've decided to just try to make mine the best RR4 it can be instead of getting a newer one.

I think its basically because im young and to be honest a total idiot. when i see something i like i get my heart set on it and have to have it. i have always been the same.

Please dont convince me to keep it and add more bling as it will have dymag wheels, hm shifter, carbon r-77 and brembo rcs with m4 callipers by spring time

The old adage used to be why use your own money when you can use someone else’s on 0%.

But money in the bank is only making 1% to 1.5% at most and that’s before the government has it bite at what ever tax rate you’re on, so in real terms your money is going backwards when inflation is running at 2.7%.

So, it’s a number crunch exercise to see what is the most cost effective way to go based on your own personal circumstances and what the dealer is prepared to put on the table.

When I brought mine new in 2011 I was going to pay cash, and a deal was getting closer but I wanted more discount or added benefits thrown in to close the deal. Its best done in person and you making it crystal clear you are in a position to proceed there and then but also willing to walk away if not happy. After some head scratching and stick banging it was clear that was as far as the dealer would/could go. I was about to shake on it but waited just long enough for the DP to blink first and throw in another couple of fitted options but only if I took 0% finance contract and the bike was registered by the end of that month. I then asked for what ever cost of the finance to be discounted of the deal and pay cash, but was told that the only way they could make it work was if I took the finance as they would get a kick back on sales target and finance sold. I was offered both 3 and 5 years. I took the 5 years on the basis that I could pay it off when ever I wanted with no penalty, this was possible as the early repayment penalty clause was the same as the interest rate charged ie in this case zero. I fully intended to pay it off the next month but on reflection thought I might as well just let it run until I am ready to change the bike and leave the money in the bank, even though it’s actually losing value sat there I can build up some credit history.

I don’t have a mortgage anymore, any bank or any credit card borrowings, a good and reasonably well paid job and saving in the bank but still got turned down for a new credit card ! Because I didn’t have any current credit record. The Honda finance went through in about 10 seconds! Figure that out.

Another point to remember is that finance risk is calculated on what other money you owe, be it a mortgage, bank loan, credit cards etc and as long as you have kept up the repayments you should be ok as long as its relative to your earnings.

Fez, I don’t think age has anything to do with it, look at good old Barney as the perfect example.

thanks for that freedom, it does sound like the honda finance is much easier to get than other areas of credit, i dont owe a penny to anybody, bank accounts in credit, no mortgage, no credit card so on that basis i should be fine

Used to be, when you wanted a loan you'd go and see your bank manager, the same one you'd had since you left school. His accountant would bring in the big manilla folder with green string around it and your name on it, look over his glasses at you and say "Justin, I've known your family for 17 generations and know you to be of stout heart and in possession of great rectal fortitude. I see no reason to not advance you the monies to purchase a brand new velocipede. To this end I will now instruct Mr Wilson to place 17 guineas at your disposal immediately". Then off you'd go knowing that a man of great standing in the community thought highly of your worth.

Now some poor, massively overqualified Phd in Asia spends 14 hours a day in a headset for a hand full of millet just ticking boxes under your name with a bingo marker based, primarily, on what they can take off you in the likelihood that you default. So if you own your own home, have paid up in full any outstanding debts and take care to live within your means without recourse to credit you will be considered a bad risk, because it would be harder for them to take it off you.

    Progress

Unless they've changed recently the Honda finance is not HP it's just a straight forward personal loan. It's not secured against the bike.

I've got two on the go at the moment. When my first blade got written off I didn't use all of the pay out as a deposit but paid off some other debts. You can't beat 0%

I doubt you'll get a better deal by borrowing the money elsewhere and trying to negotiate on price. An example would be borrowing £5000 from Sainsbury's over 3 years at 6.9% you'll pay back £5,594.40 so you'll need to knock an extra £600 of the price.

It's defintely worth applying for a credit card now though. It will count against you if you have no history of having credit.
