Is this the best one to get as the manufacturer deems it to be? Is a 2m long chain adequate for Touring and locking two bikes together in the absence of owt to lock to? All Products --- Almax Security Chains Ltd Ta muchly!
Don't know if I would fancy touring with a large chain in the rucksack. Those things weigh plenty mate
That's exactly what I use. The series 3 would be better for touring, shipmate. Almax will tell you that the 4 is more a stay at home chain. But I manage. It goes in a Kriega tailpack. I wouldn't put it in a rucksack. It's a lump and it'll take out a kidney if you have a spill.
Will be Touring with a Ventura setup so weight (relatively) won't be an issue. Predominantly the chain etc is for Garage use mostly. So bottom line, weight aside, this chain is the Bollox then?
Too late, had a Glass or two of Red and bought one! http://www.almax-security-chains.co...73&CAT_ID=73&P_ID=131&btnProduct=More+Details That's another £300 gone in a click!
As far as I can work out they are, shipmate. Most scum will look at that red sleeve and move onto one of those Oxford ones where the links are welded with sparklers.
I've got a series 3 currently welding my bike to the garage floor. I've had it for a few years now. I really wouldn't want to carry it around on the bike though as it's a hell of a lump of metal.
Now I'm looking for a chain to leave at work (chained to railings) for when I use the bike (summer riding really). Question is, would the series 4 be overkill and should I just go for the series 3?
^^^^^^^^ That's the danger. And I wouldn't leave the chain on the railings permanently as sometimes they'll chop it overnight and the next day they'll be coming for your unchained bike.
