Just purely out of curiosity, is there any law against riding around a corner or roundabout and getting your knee down? Lets assume it is not causing offence to other road users, I.e. very early on a summers morning or very quiet road and it is all done with a good level of motorcycle control. Could it still be considered as dangerous riding or wreckless behaviour in some way?

Are there any police/ex police on here that can comment? It'd be interesting to hear other people's thoughts

Think the police may take a dim view and see it as not being fully in control of the vehicle, we and anyone that can will know that is far from the truth, but seeing as any sportsbike rider is demonised as a stupid, dangerous and always speeding by others generally, you would be a perfect target to book along with the plate, your dark visor and exhaust if you have them..

Sorry bit of a pessimistic view from me !

I just do it anyway lol :)

not illegal but they will argue that you are not in control, was a whole write up
    about it in mcn

That pretty much confirms my thoughts too - certainly not going to get a pat on the back from the police but I guess you might get away with it if you're not speeding or creating havoc with other road users.

I'll see if I can find the MCN article online; that'd make for an interesting read

they said you may get a ticking off but as long as its good conditions,
good view around the corner and you are not speeding then it could
hardly go to court but its down to the said officer that stops you as
    to what way to proceed.

That sounds like the sensible view I'd see most police officers having Phantom. I guess you just could be unlucky with who pulls you over for it

I take it you were being pretty sensible doing it and not causing a nuisance?

Piece of cake mate, all you need is ten mins, the right body position and a pocket full of minerals to give it a go! ;)

Back to the original point, it is a matter of discretion and circumstances.

Most Bike Police would take the view that if it is done where it will not cause injury or damage to someone else, then leave well alone. But id it is done where for example the road surface is breaking up or badly potholed, then he/she may take a different view.

Then you will get the jobsworths.

The specific offence is failing to maintain proper control of a motor vehicle and the courts have convicted for a simple knee down, so it is very much an individual judgement call.

I never booked anyone for doing it, mainly because I was too busy joining in ;)
