yes I agree if you are going out and trying to knee slide it takes your attention from the most important job in hand...the cornering. unless Im acting a lark for a photo I personally dont try,I set up for the corner assume the body position and if my knee touches down then so be it. I usually find its the corners below 60mph that see the most scratching.
Cant remember the race but remember VR46 doing it whilst pointing over his screen at 46 on the nose cone.... flash as flash can get.... cant find pic... but can be done (not by me though )
Ah standing on the pillion pegs doing it but standing on the front pegs I wouldn't want to try as is standing on the front has enough pull On your arms....or im just doing it wrong :s
wouldnt know mate! wheelies im fine with... standing i struggled every time ive tried and failed - let alone one handed!!
To learn start from seated then learn to wheelie leaning with your Chest near touching the tank.when you have this sorted then do the Same thing again but while in the wheelie lift your arse about two Inches off the seat.again practice this until it feels natural.then its Just a matter of straightening your legs more and more until you Are in the full stand up position. Oh and also do it in the right place I.e. private roads .
I went to wheelie school which was ace and I can get it up ...... so to speak but its different on your own pride and joy to a bandit 600 with a wheelie wand, was getting better on the blade but now have to learn all over again ! If you do give it a go drop a few PSI in the rear it gives you a more stable platform for practice
