Pretty sure there is a thread on this but cant find it....Who's got what for shuttling their beasts to the track?? Got any pics or handy tips of how you've set them up for storage, sleeping etc? Currently in the market. Ideally don't want to spend more than 2/3k (I know, not a huge amount) and as some of you know I don't run a car so was thinking something as a train station run around and track day work horse so swb transit size really. Prefer the trafic / vivaro but for my budget your looking 2005 which I'm told are not as reliable as the 2007 onwards...?? Tranny is the obvious choice I guess and plenty around. Seen loads with 130k on clock 02 / 05 which seem ok, but wondering if there are any other options? Ideally I'd prefer non white! Lol

Mine is short wheelbase standard height which is taller than transits etc you can stand full height in back which is good for moving about etc.....
how come your selling mate? got a blinged out VW on the way? tbh its a little more than i wanted to spend, got any pics?
Vw caddy lwb and transporter are good vans gearboxes are weak if ragged about.Vivaro or equiv are great vans to drive but do suffer from gear change cable issues.This normally happens on 100k plus miles.Transits are in abundance but suffer from clutch/starter motor issues.Connects are good but you need a Lwb if you can find one, swb are too short..Mercedes Vito are good but suffer from panel rust and injector problems.I think if you get lucky with a low miler any one of the above would serve you well.
thanks mate - tbh i think the transit would be the sensible option plenty about and reliable with cheap spares.... but i'd prefer a trafic of vivaro for driving and looks but worried about it going pop as id be liiking at 100 - 130k miler...
Have you thought about hiring too?If you have someone going with you, split the bill.Weekends I think I paid £95 for a new lwb movano, big van I know easily get 4 bikes in there with plenty of room for stuff too.I bought a conservatory and got all of it in one of them inc the glass.Another angle to look at maybe.
did think about it mate... but most TD's are weekdays, which mean picking up day before and droping off day ofter is a pain as i work in london. also hoping to use it as an extended store for all TD stuff that is kicking around in my garage (obviously not expensive stuff incase it goes walkies) and dont take many £95 to £150 quids to add up to a semi ok van. plus i'll get the benefit of the van as my run around and save me buying a crap car i dont want! lol
Trusty transit for me touch wood 54 plate purchased £1100 needed headlight and wing o/s 81000 when brought now just turned 145000 drives perfectly . Been put off with vivaro s trafics interstar my 4 mates have them all under 90k 2 have had fuel pumps this year 3 have had gearboxes we have this one in now 2.0dci 2008 96k needing its 2nd gearbox !!!!!! I know they probably ain't all bad though
I used to have a renault master MWB, just a bit taller and longer than a transit, two bikes with ease and you can stand upright in it. Nice looking van. The short wheel base would be suitable as well.. I have a vivaro now and its been ace from day one
I use transits at work had we sent a fleet back due to clutches burning out every 3 - 11k all were fine till about 40k then all went on a suicide packs. when the went, new clutch flywheel, and most needed a new starter motor. all top spec too 125 350s these were 09 - 10 plate vans. the vivaro we had before was 56 plate ok but that need new breaks every 20k
