The thing that digs me with this case is she lied about the phone at first, then changed her mind! And they STILL let her off... the phone was on her lap iirc on loudspeaker, I say loudspeaker as in my book that's not hands free, she still had to handle the phone to take the call.
Done, and wish I could do it again. I'm just amazed that there was no public uproar when the details of this were made public. In fairness, it was the CPS who made the police look stupid over it as they were publically shocked by the act and the consequential behaviour of the woman involved and they will now be vilified for her actions. Meanwhile this poor guy's family are having to deal with an accidental death verdict.

Anyone remember those 'Think once. Think twice. Think bike.' public service ads? Made me wince as a kid but really hit home. I can still see the chap's hand and fist sort of action on the table demonstrating the classic smidsy t-bone.
Signed and I'm a cop as for one rule for them and one for others don't believe it I know of many cops who have been sacked, sent to jail etc etc. We all face the same justice. You should see what some people with numerous convictions get away with! It's the old buggers sitting on the benches in the courts who don't have a clue!

Undoubtedly. It is a knee jerk reaction to a perceived, justified or not, persecution complex on our part that looks for bias in any of our dealings with authority. 'It's because I'm a biker that I'm being picked on'. And, as stated, the police's own reaction to the circumstances of the accident and, especially,the subsequent perjury, was one of shock. They appeared to be genuinely stunned by the response of the Crown Prosecution Service in the matter and, frankly, so am I. This was not the act of a vindictive officer of the law who practiced to deceive from the outset but and act of panic by somebody who made a grave and lethal mistake and rather than accept that, lied repeatedly, on oath and has been acquitted of blame in all but the eyes of a handful of media and an already outraged public.
We need to be forwarding this to others, people. I'm not bothered by her job nor her sexual orientation. Unlike our increasingly pathetic and frothy media. It's just a murky case which needs another look.
