Out of interest why are you buying from the states?

There are different ways to pay depending how its sent, some stuff I have paid over the phone and other stuff I have had to collect from the post office and pay cash (I know a piss take as you have paid for delivery!)
Some stuff they ask for a payment at your door

Mate, you can find a brand new PCV for around £265, SH for under 190.
Dynojet UK will not honour the warranty if bought in the states.

You'll be charged duty and VAT, worst case budget about 38 quid extra(@20% VAT), you might get lucky though and be charged a lot less. Can be a lottery

the duty you pay all depends on the commodity code, that can range from 0%-90%!!!! but is usually around 8-15%.

you can look it up on the gov.uk website (import, customs part).it's bloody hard to find though, and then even harder to work out which code you need.it's a good idea to do it though as i bought some leathers from the states and knew the code was@4% but they charged me 15%.i made a claim and got the difference refunded.

Royal mail will not deliver the parcel until the the duty,VAT+delivery charge+handling fee is paid.so your looking at about £10 handling fee,20% VAT and say 10% import duty.

So 190+Import (19)+Vat (40)+handling fee(10) doesn't make it look a real bargain tbh considering you'd not get any warranty.

long gone are the days they could mark it as a gift and get through without import duty+VAT.

Wow I underestimated as usual!. I've used this previously to estimate the taxes. New Import Duty & Taxes Calculation | DutyCalculator

I bought my PCV from Dynojet direct, they will normally give 20% off retail, but ebay is the cheapest place. Also the after-service from Dynojet is exemplary, ask for Martin at dynojet, always on hand for any tech advice. If Preston is not too far they can offer free custom map (if they new a map for your setup)

a quick go on the calculator gives this.

    EditTotal customs value: £199.62
    - Duty: £0.00
    - VAT: £39.92
Total import duty & taxes due: £39.92
    Total landed cost: £239.54
    +handling fee from parcel force.

worth noting that without actually going through all the commodity codes (theres over 10,000) to find the exact 1 it'sa tricky to gauge the actuall import duty.

so still a bit cheaper than buying oiver here, but no where near the bargain it initially looks, and without any back up wouldn't risk it myself

I believe they have moved the goal posts on import tax recently to capture more revenue!

I think it's now up to the value of £15 is free from import tax on purchases,
& up to the value of £30 is free if the customs form is marked as a gift.
