. Hi all! Got my new(ish) '11 bike being delivered next week and will def need to upgrade the lights. My BMW R1100s has HIDs (head+dip) and I don't want anything less on my 'blade' so can someone advise as to how many bulbs I'm going to need to change? Also, is there an on-line workshop manual available? If not, who does the best 'hard copy'?

Fitting is easy as most are plug straight into your existing bulb connector. To do a dipped beam you can put the ballast box in the tray under the headlamp. To do high beam you will need to put the second ballast in the inner of the left fairing.I'm sure someone will tell you where to store it.For this reason I have it only on dipped beam which is plenty bright enough for me.
It's not a easy job getting it tidy. Fuck all room. Most extend the HOD worse and mount the ballast under the seat. Protector conversion. Well you really need skills to do a proper job otherwise you looking at ££££ to get them done professionally.

Might be able to do sumthin with a couple of these. 2.5" MOTORCYCLE BI-XENON HID KIT Angel Eye Projector Lens Universal Slim Ballast | eBay
If only it was a simple conversion. Heat guns and finding room for ballasts. I like bulb out bulb in technology, unfortunately that doesn't get you a HID conversion.
I really like the look of these lights but its the leds I worry about.I use loads of that style of led and they start to burn out after the 1-2 year mark (8hrs a day use)
Finished mine before, Thanks to Lee! Cheers dude! Well chuffed, very bright, and very white…. i went with the 5000k bulbs instead of 6000k:
not that, but you have to start pulling the headlight apart to replace them and they dim down long before they start burning out around the 1000hr mark. also having heat sources near them shortens the life by half that again, the ones near my halide lights would last about three months before I was replacing them. my ebay history looks like Im an led dealer lol but not anymore as the marine tank is now shut down due to running costs.
Projectors lights don't get hot as such as its a sealed unit and the halo angle bulbs are like led low heat! But the hid bulbs would get hot! Not in the projector
..............also you aint guna be using your lights for 8 hours a day 7 days a week are you? Still too expensive at £800 though! How much did your HID conversion cost you Si and will it pass an MOT with a non HID reflector?
Sine, £30 for 2. i gave the other to Lee, so only £15 mate. MOT no probs mate… I bough extra bulbs for £10. Cheap as chips….
Just to chip in with HID kits, they aren't based on hours used but on/off's Great if you've got a headlight switch, if not you half the life of the bulb straight out the box with ignition process. Will stick on here the circuit my brother put together when I get round to putting a HID in my new toy. Something around headlights not turning on til you flash the main beam
Yup, you get the ballast etc with the kit… you need to hide the ballast, but all in the kit mate.
