I've just made and fitted a nice shiny pair of paddock stand bobbins, and modified my old R1 R&G tail tidy and fitted it.
I can see accidents and scratched swing-arms resulting from those undersized bobbins. Not worth the risk when proper one's are £20 imho matey.
Thanks mate. I rather like it too. Not too keen on the ones that pull the reg plate right in under the tail unit - think this is a nice compromise between the OEM and the minimalist aftermarket items. It did involve quite a bit of work though, but hey, I enjoy doing it.
Yeah, I take your point on that sinewave, though I had smaller ones on my R1 and never had any probs. I'll get some larger diameter ally and spin up some more just to be on the safe side. I don't make these parts to save or make money, but just because I can and enjoy it.
I'm with ya there Stevo! I hate under sized indicators, they just look too small imho and cheap to boot! Also I don't want any excuse for a Car driver to say they couldn't see me indicating right and then wipe me out, it's not like the standard indicators are huge in the first place. Back to the bobbins Stevo................. It's not so much you having accidents it's third party technicians at the Dealers or the Tyre fitters using them with their paddock stands and slipping up or being clumsy, that's the issue?
If you haven't seen the eyeshot then I'll explain that the only way you'll be crashed into when turning is because the turn signal blinded the car driver...
That seems to be another very good reason to stay with genuine Also, I think the Honda ones are great looking and ooze quality.
It was the inside protection near the swingarm I had issue with Stevo. This is where you need the extra protection/size not on the outside edge. Technicians wazzing ya bike up with their own stands could easily miss or slip inwards and scrawpe the swingarm. It's your bike mate but I'd want a bigger flange (ohhh errr Mrs) on the inside and for the centre location of the stand to be further out by another 10mm each side. Just look how close the stands U jacks are to the swingarm when up?
