They are amazing bikes but so many problems got two mates who track them and they are a nightmare I'd take the ZX10 all day long
this dont make any sence some of you are saying anodize the sump and some are saying its rusty ? you cant anodize steel and ally dosent rust ? confused.com
I only one one guy at the moment with the BMW 1000rr and his has been back to the dealer about 8 times for one thing and another. As said a great bike but not something you would expect from BMW
I know lots of people who've had a slew of problems with BMW bikes. I wouldn't buy one. I cannot afford to have my bike in the shop.
You could anodise it, but why should you...15 odd grand and you have to remove and anodise the sump? mind you Honda didn't do much better with early blades....lol. It does not rust like you say but it does turn to powder and fall away far quicker than any steel. Dont forget its only a few mm think.
what people must remember this was a 1st real superbike from bmw and all bikes have faults. with every manufacturer the customer is the product quality control. yes bmw are in the wrong they should have changed it free of charge to keep the problem low key. and not sell anymore with out a recall or modified sump. i would also say it was prob the service manager of the bmw garage trying to pull as fast one i doubt bmw uk would fob it off i would have thought they would want the affected sump back for testing because if it dumps the oil whilst being ridden all over the back wheel they could be in serious trouble and maybe even some kind of manslaughter charge :-/
First superbike yes, but BMW should know enough about these things from all the years they have made bikes... Local BMW place to me seem nice people but from what I am told they charge for the higher level of service it should be..!
