I have just bought myself a November 2011 Repsol CBR1000RR. It has only 220 miles on the clock. Any opinions on what servicing it requires if at all. As it is still running in should i just continue as it is until i have clocked up the 1st service mileage. What is the service schedule ?
First service is just a minor oil and filter change. If you look at the owners book it gives you the Schedule.it goes by miles or time since last service, Whatever comes first.
beats my record of june 2011 repsol with 700 miles lol. theres a different grade of oil in there for the running in process so if it were me i,d just continue to around 600 then get it into honda.
Nice bike. I'd just go for the first service at 600 miles. After that according to the book it's every 4000 miles or every 6 months.
Personally if it were me and I service my own bikes yearly, I would put it in for it service ( because its still under warrenty I assume ). its sat around for most of the 2 year and condensation gathers in the oil (emulsification ). Was and if so when was it last serviced.
never been touched since it left the showrom. just spoke to honda who said stick a couple of hundred more miles on it then put in some semi synth and a new filter. should be good until the next service after that. cheers for the replies.
i dont have it yet. current owner waiting to transfer private plate over. no rush while the white stuff is about still.
It amazes me the amount of Peeps who shell out over 10 Big ones for a Bike then ride it for a couple of hundred miles then sell it! Even worse if they just leave it sat in garage for two years before selling it! WTF? The depreciation must be horrendous!
I'm really supprised Honda told you to do that, sticking a couple of hundred miles on it to them might mean a couple of weeks riding then book it in, you really dont want to leave 2 year old oil sitting in such a nice bike like that, if it was out of warrenty I would change filter and oil its a 20 min job and if you cant do it, its not a great deal of money, seriously even if its sat in a garage your still going to get condensation in that oil, I change mine regardless of mileage, my Harley hardly gets ridden, but its oil out atleast one a year.
This tends to happen alot with people with Sports bikes and Harleys, you can always get low mileage examples that have Hardley been ridden and 9 out of 10 times as soon as winter apears the batteries die from lack of use whilst you didnt own it.
Yes, but 200 miles? I've only had my new Bike 2 weeks to this very day, and I've already done 300 miles over just three afternoon rides as well, as the rest of the time it's been tucked up int garage due to the weather! I could understand it more if you hadn't had a test ride prior to buying and it was just plain uncomfortable or you hated it.
