So I'm about ready to put some fresh rubber on the metal horse and its between the sportsmart and roadsmart 2 only thing I'm getting confused with is on review the RS2s are rated at having better grip? I would of thought that the SSs would have better grip than their sport touring cousins?? Sportsmart Dunlop Sportsmart | the Dunlop Sportsmart reviewed and rated | the online tyre guide Roadsmart 2 Dunlop RoadSmart II | the Dunlop RoadSmart II reviewed and rated | the online tyre guide Anyone?
Road Smart will have better grip from cold and / or in wet conditions... When up to temp i am sure that the sportsmart will grip like shit to a blanket. That is my opinion...
I'm eyeing up a pair of sportsmarts with 55 rear.RS2's I've not heard anything of so dunno bout them, maybe they're touring tyres.
See what you mean about the % grip levels. I have used the original Roadsmart on a Versys and my old RRX Blade and have nothing but praise for them. For road only riding and all year round current sports touring tyres are great. It all depends on what you want, ultimate grip on a hot day and/or track day - go for the sports tyre. Better grip in less than perfect conditions - go for a sports touring tyre.
Yeah I've ridden a 600RR for about 22K miles on roadsmarts and they were really good even went 5 laps round the nurburgring on them. Wanna do some track days this year but also have a euro trip planned? decisions.. decisions..
I've heard great things of both tyres. If you're on the road and ride a bit in cold and wet, do a few short journeys I'd go with the RS2's. I've heard they're great. Having said that my bike came with a Sportsmart front and I commuted on it in cold and wet and it was great.
