I wouldn't say shyte different yes. The Blade and the R1 reach for the same goals but in different ways. The Honda like a scalpel for the thinking man, the Yam like a Hammer for a yob. Looking forward to spending some time with it.
Could be the best road super bike.....maybe... Love the bike, hate the stock exhaust system, and HATE the front! Looks gack!
Filled it with petrol tonight and looked back at it as I was walking in to pay and yes the front with the bulging side fairings looked a bit crap, might grow on me and yep standard exhaust needs changing before they leave the showroom.
I think this and the GSXR 1000 need a massive make over I was browsing the net last night a checked out some Rc8s I love the orange and white and the back end is the dogs why can't Yamaha do what BMW do and snaffle all the good bits from other bikes and make a super looking modern bike .Ps the front light on the RC8 is the pits and is the only thing holding me back.
I so wish Jimbo were here to read that. Love it or loathe it I couldn't get past it's Dame Edna face, but that paint looks nice.
I was very close to getting one the same as that but a mate that races said they have a very tall first gear and are slightly slow so I went with the blade instead.
Is that a shelf with a briefcase on under the rear seat, wtf does the exhaust look like from the rear ??
They ride like nothing else - for the road power delivery is superb - also quite high quality parts - Brembo brakes, Dezus fastners for fairing. 1st gear is high - needs time to get used to it as a package - very different to blade , think of it like Ducati / RSV4 exotic
see thats why it has the appeal to me, most of the riders reviews that liked it on the mcn forums had came from ducati's. think I will get one out for a test ride this summer and see for myself what its like.
