HID extension leads

    As an alternative to HIDs etc, what about this - Home - - powered by 123webshop.nl i'm sure I got this info from here somewhere?



    Has anyone fitted this? Any success?

    Could be a good 6 month fix till i get round to HIDs...

    Yeah, i looked in to that, but its a bit expensive just to get both lights working at the same time. I ended up buying a £20 H7 HID kit and run both bulbs off the high beam supply (right side) as i dont do night time riding, but the original connector for the left side is still there to swap the bulb back at mot time.

    I'm scratching my head with this ? Muffking, any chance of a link of exactly what you bought ? My confussion is that I thought they are both H7 bulbs anyway & if you run both from the high beam side then surely your still on high beam ?

    Obviously i'm missing something so I'll look forward to being educated !

    I think I'm getting this !! So if I replace my high beam bulb only with one suggested then the lower output would mean they appear virtually the same, but you obviously have to be on high beam.
    Would you still not get some 'glare' from the high beam side though because of the high beam side reflector?

    I can see the theory, having a much lower output bulb is a hell of a lot cheaper than a 75 Euro gizmo that does it for you...

    Well all I can say is I have a pair here and they do look kind of cool, I have been asked many time about dual beam options and tbh this is all Ive come up with as a cheap solution.. some sellers claim these are for Hi beam use but no way! they are well down on lumens but still give the lights on effect. Be interesting to see what you think.

    Put it like this don't think you drive home on them....lol

    I'm liking where this is going but also get confused with anything electrical!

    So to make my bike have twin lights cheap Is use a low watt bulb and use full beam all the time, is that right???

    Yes Martin, much the same as the 40% lower unit, tbh SO much trafic round me I never get chance to use HI beam any way!!!

    Sorry I've just re-joined this late after being away for a couple of days.
    Basically I have taken the High Beam bulb connector and connected it to both HIDS. The High Beam switch then turns ON both sides at the same time. Yes that means that my High Beam side is on, but I will be adjusting the aim tonight so it doesn't blind oncoming drivers when I go out. All of this means that I loose my actual High Beam, but after much research that's something I'm prepared to accept.

    Just to follow-up, I spoke to my local MOT tester today when picking up a mates bike. I wanted to know what the rules on bike HID's were. He said that they only need to check that the Main Beam pattern is ok and that they should pass once the bub has warmed up. So at MOT time I will disconnect one of the plugs to the High Beam bulb so only the Main Beam comes on.

    My fall back plan however, is that I left the Main Beam bulb connector hanging behind the headlight, so if I run in to any problems then I can easily refit the Halogen bulb back in.
