I've been umm'ing and ahh'ing over buying the Brembo RCS master cylinder and matching clutch lever for a little while. Found Carpimoto in Italy came recommended on here so I've added both to my basket... Not yet clicked go as I'm trying to determine if I can fit the master cylinder and essentially bleed the system 'backwards' as its C-ABS? Any ideas or tips? I've got hold of the Honda brake bleeding manual but I don't fancy my chances trying to bleed it all the proper way. Could I push the front pistons back in to force fluid up and into the master cylinder once it's fitted? That's the idea I've got in my head. Any help would be appreciated as always Sam
Can i just ask why are you wanting to purchase the rcs m/c when you have abs, it might feel a little better when braking but it wont actually improve performance will it ?
Primarily it's to improve the feel of the brake lever. It's quite soft and spongy, and whilst I can brake sufficiently well it's just not quite how I'd like it. I find three finger braking necessary rather than two if you get me? I appreciate it won't stop the bike any quicker, but after feeling how sharp the ABS brakes on the 1199 Panigale that I test-rode were I want to improve them. Having read on here that others have done this to both ABS and Non-ABS and were suitably impressed I'd figured it might be the way to go? Sam
I've had my eye on those myself, but being mines a RR6 i'd need the clutch master cylinder too to make a matching pair. And it gets quite expensive then plus I wouldn't know what ratio clutch master cylinder to go for!
Or you could go for the ISR setup. That way you don't have to decide on what ratio to choose from as they are fully adjustable. I'm just saving my pennies for a set of these. ISR Radial Front Brake/Clutch Master Cylinders
Whilst I can appreciate the work and machining thats gone into those almost works of art, I think I prefer the simpler look of the Brembo's!
Yeh i understand why you would want to upgrade the m/c to get better feel as i dont like the oem either, i am going to upgrade to the rcs soon but i am going to wait untill i can pair it with a set of m4 callipers aswell
That's exactly what I am doing with mine Fez. Bike is with BSD (has been for 10 days) unfortunately there was a mix up and I ended up with 100 mm M4's instead of a 108 mm ones. Just found out that Carpi Moto are sending the replacemenst out today, so hopefully by next week it should all be done. Couldn't afford to do the clutch atm but I wanted to get the brakes sorted as a priority. So I will have none matching levers....Oh the shame . Front brakes should be awesome though with Brembo T Drive discs and M/C and M4's and my very pretty new shiny gloss black marhesinis.. It is all Arthurs fault I spent so much money lol. BTW, Arthur said I would need the RCS 19 as the 16 does not work well enough with the blade. I went for the 18/20 adjustable one.
I don't like the sponginess either on my ABS but I was led to believe this was due to the ABS solenoid but it does seem to still be spongy whether the ABS is active or not. The price of the RCS at Capri seems to be very good but like you a little concerned about letting air into the system.
Hi Andrew,sorry for the confusion, I was talking about the brake, I have yet to ask Arthur which size for the clutch as I will not be doing it until next year.
I expect it may depend on whether you have a hydraulic or cable clutch as well as to which ones work best. If I had a cable clutch I could have had a matching Brembo clutch lever instead of having to wait until I can afford the clutch M/C.
i doubt my budget will stretch to T-drives but i will be happy with a m/c and m4's. although i might go for the 19x18 ration m/c because you can fit asv levers ect to it
My budget could not afford them Fez, but Arthur showed me a pic of his and I convinced myself they were a 'must have' lol. But I am keeping this bike, and I want it to be as close to how I want it as I can afford. Used to change bikes every year so this way it is cheaper......I think.
i THINK its cheaper aswell, it wont be once i have enough pennies saved up for a set of dymag up7x's though, cant wait for your review on all the new bits and pieces
