Been talking to Arthur off line for a while for advice on various topics and arranging his services to look after my bikes, for whatever reason (normally me not getting my life sorted and arranging to take the bikes down to him) its not happened. Today whilst working reasonably local to Arthur I decided to take up his kind offer of popping In for a chat. What a worth while experience to spend time with someone that's earns a living from what he actually obviously enjoys doing, focusing on quality rather than quantity. The result being probably an overstayed welcome which delayed Art from earning his well deserved living and working late to catch up! Not once btw did I feel overstayed at the the time, heidsite. The positive is a warm feeling about Art looking after my bikes, a list of kit to get (nothing major, just Art's honesty in my purchase ability) a bigger list of mit haves and a few hours of fun on Mart's bike!! Joking Mart was only 30mins as Athur's leathers where tight and hurting my sack! Seriously, thanks Art, top man
Yea I tend to feel guilty when I leave, as time flies there for some reason. I told the mrs I would be an hour last time and was there nearly 5!
Thanks Dave, was nice to meet you! Your always welcome to pop in for tea and a chat, sometimes I do actually do some work...lol but much prefer to natter and when it starts sit and watch some racing! Martin your bikes getting cleaner...lol
Anyone else think of a better way or place to watch the racing??? I can't. Race night at Art's gaff anyone. Lol
lol, IF the summer comes I drag out the BBQ pull down the big screen whack up the volume and sit outside watching the racing stuffing burgers!
is it just me that thinks this sounds a bit wrong? on a serious note, having someone you can trust to look after your bikes and actually know what they are doing without being ripped off is a godsend.keep it up.
Not at all mate. I originally trained as an electronic engineer with the MOD, last twenty years working within telecoms (same firm, various names after mergers)
Sure it's me? Arthur's your man. There's also loads of others on here that know far more than me when it comes to bikes. But yes, purely a hobby. Reasonably new to owning bikes, although I grew up around them didn't get to own one until five years ago. Although whilst without a bike I've been a car nut. Did motor mechanics at school as a GCSE, teacher was a beetle nut so that's all we worked on as the workshop was full of them, so I became a Vw fan. When I was an apprentice, couldn't afford to pay anyone to fix my cars, so had to do it myself. Until last December I owned this, tuned to 315 at the wheels ((350-360 at the flywheel). Was a weapon, but using it as a work car so decided to sell. Was mine but now my wife's Dare I say it on here, but my real love. Heavily modded to circa 300bhp. Was a standard car when I bought it, built it myself with only the paint on the bumpers and the mapping being done by anyone else. Those wheels are the real deal, not the copies. Locked away since I blew the turbo on it a few years back, just haven't got round sorting it, even my wife and son wouldn't let me sell it! My current four wheel work horse. Wish I could earn a living from it, but unfortunately not. Just spend far to much money on it all to the despair of my wife who's missed out on expensive holidays over the years!
