The Scottoiler seems to be a fair bit cheaper per litre, is it just as good as ACF50? £10 delivered seems great for a 1L spray bottle? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scottoiler-FS365-Corrosion-Protector-1L/dp/B003NX4AX4/ref=pd_cp_sg_0
Hi mate, I used to use FS 355. It is cheaper by litre but you use far more as your supposed to re apply every time the bike gets wet. So the end results you use loads, If like me you ride the bikes all year round. ACF is meant to last a while on one application, depending on what you use to clean the bike. Other things to consider, by the way just my view as there's no proven science. 355 is messier than ACF 365 attracts dirt more which sticks to it. Ok if you was the bike every time you ride it, but as above you have to reapply the stuff. I use the same micro fibre cloth for applying ACF, as it soaked in I actually don't use that much. Spray it over the bike, use the cloth to spread it. ACF brings all the plastics and back parts to life, giving them that "wet look". So for me, ACF wins hands down.
The quick answer is no. FS365 is water based, you are supposed to use it after a wet ride. It will counter act the corrosive effect of water (made worst by salt) and leave a protective film. Howvever it is easily washed off by rain so you will have to apply again. On the other hand ACF is a permanent corrosion inhibitor, spray/wipe is on and it will not come off until you use soaps/greasers. On the down side ACF can be messy if over applied, bad news if it gets on pads/disc. Also it does attract dirt so applied surfaces will become black with road film (though it will be protecting the part underneath. My cleaning regime uses both. ACF after every wash, and if I ride in the rain a douse down in FS365.
My commute includes 200miles of the M4 a week and the ACF does seem to attract more road dirt, but I might try your microfibre method, - I normally brush on and wipe off with a clean rag. Probs a case of me using too much!. Just to add, I usemy Blade pretty much every day, rain, salt and occasionally snow! Apart from my chain (and my front brake piston due to over cleaning!) I have zero corrosion.
Agree it's awesome stuff, like you I ride my 929 all year and for commuting. I may be the other way round mate and wasI using too much 365, as I've also found ACF attracts dirt but didn't think as much. I made the mistake of being lazy and leaving the 929 on more thy one occasion for weeks without cleaning it, just leaving it in the garage so got some corrosion. I ride to Winnersh from Kent quite often, I'll keep an eye out for you.
on crosser i use acf50 every big clean.... scotoiler every ride. kind of same on road bike ... faiting off cleans acf50... but scotoiler ever ride
My Bike only gets used when it's dry so unless I get caught out by a shower or it rains when I'm off Touring for 4-5 days then it'll never see rain. So it seems for my type of use then ACF is the one to purchase?
