Delighted with my new chain guard that I bought from Megawatt a few weeks ago. Fitted it straight away, but didn't want to post up a photo as the bike was filthy. Anyway, here we are:
they do look great, sorry to go off topic straight away but how do you find those tyres as i have seen them on lots of bikes but never spoke to anybody who uses them
Fez, to be honest mate, I'm not sure. I fitted them in December, but haven't really had a chance to push them at all. I use the bike every day, commuting to and from work, so wanted something a bit more road-based for the winter months. These were cheap, and a lad I was spekaing to said they great mileage. Plus, for purely psychological reaosns, I sort of liked the idea of a 'tread' on the shoulder for when I took a roundbaout a bit too hot in the wet. When I first put them on, they felt great, cos they've actually got quite a steep profile for a touring tyre: turn-in felt good compared to my previous tyres (metzeler M3 sportec). Had no issues in wet and slimy conditions (had a low speed off in snow, but that was my own fault, as I should have left the bike well-alone that day: was doing about 1mph pulling out of my car park, and the front went). Only thing I will say (and this is why I'm reserving judgement) is that on a dry morning I gave it a bit going round a roundabout close to my work, and the back end felt a little bit 'mobile' for want of a better word. It wasn't sliding, but felt like it was 'wriggling' or 'bouncing'. So, in conclusion, not sure: fine so far for road miles, but will probably put something more conventional on for the summer months.

It may look nice but it looks far too flimsy to be of any use. "Use?".......they all chime up Well if ya chain snaps/link lets go it don't offer much protection to your left calf/foot etc I think I'd feel safer with sumat more substantial me self, but that's me.
More flimsy than what? A 1 mm thick piece of plastic, compared to a 3mm thick piece of billet ally. Hhhmmm
I had a quick look around but can't remember seeing a UK distributor. Can anyone help with this or have one for sale? Standard CG sucks! Thanks
Try googling mate, there's a few rizoma dealers out there. Laguna's are definitely one, but not the cheapest. Colin's version is the best thing I ponced, I mean bought from Jimbo. Know it's dirty, that's jst now after 300 miles today
You've convinced me. Guessing a little googling & credit card therapy would ease the pain of my chuffing toothache? Not even Easter egg related. Got to be cheaper than the dental bill or blood stained visit I'm soon facing right?
Oh you are witty guys, I'll give ya that! It's not all about the thickness it's about the length! Those two 'Chain Guards' are only a few inches long compared to 18 or so inches of a standard one. Maybe I'm over cautious but hey, I just wouldn't feel comfortable with that Chainsaw thrashin round inches from my ankle with nothing more than a metal 'Thong' for protection!
There's nowhere for the chain to go. There is a swingarm in the way, and a heal guard, but hay ho each to they're own when it comes to safety mate.
Lengths really important mate, but thickness also counts. Besides, the lump of plastic that Honda fits is clearly quantity rather than quality, isn't it? If my chain came off I'd be more worried about the back wheel locking up than damaging my new white boots.
I do like it though Colin! Maybe you could do a longer version like the Huggers for customers like Moi?
Another happy owner , had lots of people at Sherburn in Elmet asking where they can buy one , nothing for sale comes close
