I have run with a few bike groups over the years and
The term often used is plastic spastic.
I used to be the only fairing bike in one group lol

It has always amused me that a biker will nod or even stop if you are in trouble, however they do not speak or engage in conversation at bike stops etc.

And before you say it, it's not just me, or that I ride a Repsol, wear ladies cloths and use the wife's make up;)

It's funny you say that Carl. I was at Bridge Motorcycles a few weeks ago. Got my coffee and bacon roll and sat on the park bench right by the door. Every time somebody came by to go in, I nodded and mornin'd to them and they, to a man, responded as if I'd blown them a kiss.

I was dressed like you though.

I nod automatically, not to all mopeds though - except the cbr125 in repsol colours, I remember owning one of those baby's!

Also, I get an urge to flip the visor up and sing at the top of my voice everytime passing through traffic, maybe it's knowing I have a captive audience?! :D

I nod to everyone except mopeds. I have in the past but was always ignored. I have NEVER had a reply-nod from a Harley rider. Here's an interesting thing though - When I was on the SV650 I pretty much always initiated the nod-acknowledgement, now that I'm on the Blade I'm usually the one replying to a nod.
I always feel that I'm brightening someones life when I nod to a learner - it's nice to show them that they are entering a friendly (for the most part) club.

Absolutely. They don't always nod/wave back but I always assume it's because they think they are going to fall off if they do. They are learners after all..... :D

I always nod to DaveV, but as he is an Elite and I am merely Established Middle Class, he never returns it.

And that is as it should be.

    must be just over there,
bike stops here everyone talks to each other with the only exception being when
I rode a duke I was like a social outcast.
you park up anywhere over here on a bike and people come over to chat to you.
a few guys from another forum that came to stay at mine for the nw200
and I arranged to meet them just outside the docks.no sooner had they stopped
and someone came out of their house to see if they broke down or needed help
which surprised them.even better was another fella we were meeting got a puncture
just outside of dublin, no sooner had he stopped and a van pulled over and helped
him load the bike in the back and drove him thirty miles to the next bike shop
to get it fixed and refused to take any petrol money for the trouble.
think its the road racing we have that makes everyone so bike friendly over here,
I would guess the IOM is the same?

I'll nod to pretty much anyone, but tbh I'm usually too busy trying not to crash that I don't look to see if I get a nod back

The Slaves near you ride their bikes?

They mostly drive pick ups around here.

Nodding to Dave V you are in fact bowing. That Elite class puts him amongst royalty. So when he comes into a carpark we all say All rise.

Of course. I was reverting to British class system acknowledgement, instinctively, without realising!

Thank Cliff, we, as a nation can still automatically revert to the hierarchy based recognition process that has always kept our government, institutions and commerce full of inbred, chinless idiots without recourse to reasoning.

    Rule Britannia.

I nod to all bikes and must confess I've found myself doing it while in the car, today I nodded 4 times while out riding two returned a nod, the Harley / cruiser didn't but then I'm just guessing thats due to the slower reactions inherent with most HD riders. An SV responded and so did one monkey bike rider the other one just plain blanked me :-/
