I passed a local HD chapter in the car earlier today and saw them wave to a bike on the other side of the road. They can't all be bad...
I don't think it's necessarily Harley riders per se. It's more the stock broker/solicitor/merchant banker fraternity that buy bike/leather/helmet/intercom/boots/tassles for themselves and the wife, all at the same time with their bonus (probably) and club together on corporate networking days. They daren't acknowledge you unless you catch them up and start talking to them about their kit which they don't know sod all about. It's almost fun watching them 'actively' not notice your presence.
It was a whole hand, proper wave. hahaha Good thing I'd finished my cuppa or you'd be owing me a new keyboard.... It's the difference between "bikers" and "riders" I'm not long in this world (5 years) and I *know* I'm a complete newbie to a lot of things about it. I still wave to everyone and will stop and check people are OK even in the car. The community thing or shared love/misery about this is one of the bits that really appeals to me.
Commuting into London, if I nodded to other bikers, my effing head would fall off, nothing personal, but as a grumpy old bastard, I nod to no one.
