Spotted arriving at a hotel near Donington Park And his mate Bruce / Teapot one has had his subframe snap, then his recovery truck broke down THink they will be pished (or getting that way) by now - poor lads, had days like that where NOTHING goes right for you
You know what, sometimes you get days like that, and you just have to laugh at the obscenity of it all. Your left there wondering what's next
Should've hired a Volkswagen (snigger) No mate , I really feel for you, only missed the first session when my van Astravan broke down and I had to hire a Tranny.
All is not lost!! (For me anyway) AA coming to pick me and van up, drop me and gear at circuit... Take van and drop another one off later today, so might just make registration.... Poor old Bruce on the other hand is gutted. 2nd sub frame gone, (ok 1st was off roading in Africa) but 2nd on m1 slip road with no more than a us30 on the back. Gutted for him!! He is not a happy boy. Told him to buy a Honda
All jokes aside, I was actually impressed with it when travelling to nd from the workshop the weekend. Good news is Jimbo's at the track, poor Bruce is still at the hotel. Ride safely Jimbo
Carlsberg don't do trackdays.... But if they did, it would have been better than today! Talk about comedy of errors!! This is how it rolled.... 8pm Bruce calls to tell me his sub frame is broken 8.05 renault trafic shits itself on m1 21.00 recovery truck breaks down 22.05 finally get picked up 22.15 pulled into services and told I'm not being taken further. "That's another team mate" 22.30 after 15 mins of "persuasive negotiation" they accept its not unreasonable to take me ten miles to my hotel 22.45 arrive at hotel knackered 1.00am finish drowning sorrows with Bruce. 6.00 wake up and wait for AA 8.00 AA turn up, taken to track on another lorry and have to empty van contents in garage 8.30 finally get to track IN TIME for registration. Finally looking up, suns coming out 9.00 bike warmed up, everyone pulling into pit lane. Happy days (sorry Bruce) 9.02 pull out of pit lane, sighting lap, 1st corner, open up, NOTHING!! Bike runs fine in neutral, 5k revs in any gear cuts out?? 9.06 finally stutter round track back to pits, pull in garage scratch head 10.30 bike stripped, is it flapper? Side stand switch? Pinched fuel line? Ecu? Fuelling. 11.00 after some calls to Dave V and Arthur (thanks guys appreciate your help) realise its a miracle I've stripped the bike and got the tank off myself to inspect all suspected faults raised by the fellas 11.10 realise it'd be a bigger miracle if I could find it and then fix the bike and get it back together. 11.30 throw in the towel and call van hire and chase up the replacement. 12.30 finish bike, tidy up. 12.35 "erm where is the van?".... "I'll find out sir!"... "Oh, the windscreen just broke, we need to get you a new one from CHESHIRE!!" 14.00 new van turns up 14.30 van loaded up now have to drop driver back at depot 16.00 welcome to the m25 18.00 get home. Shagged. Two hard days and 1 lap at no more than 15mph Not exactly the 1st shakedown I was hoping for the blade in its new track trim but hey ho, these things happen, obviously not meant to be! Roll on next time
That's tough Jimbo. What a shitter of a trip. A good yarn over a beer I feel? But dare I say. Q the Benny Hill music. note to self, don't stand next to Jimbo or Bruce in a thunder storm
I just wasn't meant to be this time mate. No doubt next time will make up for all the heart break this time.
Lol Gary. Did joke today that I'd prob get struck down by lightening today... Really wasn't my day. I swear that blade hates me. My yamahas never do this to me
Not end of the world mate. Could have run like clockwork, and got rained off all day. Or worse still, high sided on the 1st corner of the sighting lap and total your pride and joy like the fella infront of me...
Sorry to hear it didnt go to plan jimbo, but there is always next time and your bike will behave I am sure !
Jimbo, it seems crass of me to 'like' that post (but it is a good post). Shit mate, you know Blaggers is back, don't you, he should be lightning rodding all the bad luck again by now. I'll bet you've still got a grin like a fox eating shit out of a wire brush though...
