Not aimed at you mate, I'd have rung ya instead if it was Just saying, the one thing Brits are good at is moaning about the weather.
right as were going to rip up scotland NEXT MONTH now that sounds better doesnt it? what riding gear are peps wearing as i only have summer leathers i dont fancy being the faggot at the back shivering ha ha
You will be ok Craig their is always a faggot within a group just get yourself an extra pair of panties .lol
By all accounts it looks like I'll be the "cold faggot" at the back!.......Best upgrade me thermals....
But having said that its a good question and one I am still mulling over .I am still undecided and may wait until the very few days prior to lift off to see if there is a heat wave .Leathers vrs Textile somehow the Textile must win as they are not cold ..don't get wet .. Easy to slip off the jacket if you stop for a coffee ..are light ..Leathers perhaps better protection ..look cool ... Don't flap about ... My leathers and Textiles are both currently for sale so I might end up with none! Just weighing up the odds at the moment.
Leathers always win for me as you can't choose when your going to need them. I carry a micro windproof to go underneath for warmth then a fully waterproof/windproof light jacket to go over the top, never bother with waterproof bottoms as they are too restrictive. Tried the full Andy pandy suits and hated them.
is it ok to join in on the first leg of trip? from south queensferry, I would probably do most of the way and turn back somewhere on route. planning on flying home on the Thursday night but got loads to do over weekend before flying back on the sunday.blade going to need a lot of cleaning
Have you guy's got an ETA for crossing the Forth bridge or meeting up on the south side?? I have now got my work rota for this year and i am off on May 10th so i was thinking about meeting up with the entourage and doing part of the run then heading home, if you could get back to me (colinbr) so i can get an idea of times etc that would be good
We plan to leave Galasheils at 09:30 - so I would 'guess' 10:30 at Forth Bridge - think plan is Services to fuel up, then down to waterfront, photo then go direct to Knockhill for the parade lap / further photo shoot - don't forget to bring some polish!
There are three services on south side of the forth bridge guy's so which one are you meeting at?? The services with the Micky D's next door would offer better parking in Micky D's as there would be no thru traffic as there could be in the Tesco carpark....................Just a suggestion as i am quite local...But if the stop is only for fuel then i will meet down at the Hawes hotel where there is ample parking
This might throw a spanner in the works... But what we doing about navigation and getting 20 odd bikes round Scotland together?? Personally I don't think it'll be possible to keep that many bikes and different paces together for the entire trip.... Will end up too much like hard work IMO trying to make sure we haven't lost any body, people getting stressed waiting for others or others fretting that they need to keep up and then feeling pressured to ride out of their comfort zone - all of which isn't enjoyable for anyone. Might be way off here, but my view is that it would be more enjoyable if we treat it a bit like a rally. Leave in the morning, have a set place for lunch to all hook up and obviously the hotel in the evening. But split down into smaller groups to ride with so that everyone e can decide their own pace and any extra miles etc they might want to do. This trip is going to be mega, but its also everyone's holiday - think it might allow people to get the most out of it for themselves. Maybe just a bit more relaxed like this?? There I said it ;( let the flaming commence lol
How about on the first day we take it easy and stay as a group? After all there are a few stops to make along the way. Ie photo's at the bridges, the Knockhill parade laps, lunch, and then the hotel at night. plus the sceanery will be outrageous. It will let everyone see what kind of pace they are at, and also gel everyone so it's more of an event. Once we all get sat down with a pint and some food then maybe we can decide if we want to split into groups.
I'm in agreement with everything that's been said above. I had started to reply, then noticed Colin beat me to it. I too, think the first few hours there won't be much difference and should be able to keep us all withing say 15 minutes from front to back of the group, which in turn helps for the fourth bridge and knock hill. Let's be honest. There's been plenty of route information available and certainly enough time to sort things out for ourselves. It's unfair that it should all fall one one persons shoulders to try and keep so many people together,The main point I'd like to make, so long as we're all sat in that bar of an evening with a glass of cheer in our hands, I ain't bothered. Let's all just enjoy it for what it is. Edit: we will get a bit of feedback on the Thursday when we ride up to Scotland for our first night. See how we all gel together.
