Thank you YT, can't yet see the day I won't be riding a Superbike, but I have stopped racing around tracks now, just takes too long to repair when I crash, which was starting get more frequent as I got older, trying to keep up with young guys like you that had not yet learnt they could die
He got caught speeding a while ago on his way to the nw200. Cop lectured him that a fella of his age should know better, 10mph over the NSL but the fine never arrived so im not Sure if the cop didn't bother logging it in.i can't go on Runs with him as he's a proper speed freak sometimes an I can't bare to watch lol. this is his ride btw
I really really want some track time this year but with saving for a house deposit and doing two tours I might struggle!! Desperate to see what I can do on a track though, nurburgring gave me the BUG!!
That could launch a pensioner into orbit!! Maybe if he reaches 88 miles an hour he can go back in time and do it all again!!!!
lol, I can confirm that he has tried the 88mph and without the flux capacitor it doesnt work.he looks a lot younger but he puts this down to the bikes keeping him young.still doesnt beat a local flag marshal in our town.he rode to every race in Ireland covering hundreds of miles every weekend at the good old age of 86. he passed last year at the age of 91. he was behind this bale when it was hit by the bike but jumped up to continue waving the flag
As was mentioned in an earlier post about all being in control of the throttle working both ways.... If said copper was caught, would he hold his hands up and take it on the chin? After all they are more aware than other of the consequences of getting caught as it would be potentially job threatening??
@ Phantom, I think that's great your Dad has got an R1 and a great looking bike it is. I just hope I will still be able to swing my leg over at that age.....and to still ride a bike lol
If everyone in the UK had by-the-book number plates, wore clear visors, stuck to the speed limit, factory exhausts and no mods..... What would the police do all day? They would be out of work, so unfortunately everyone being stopped for inconsequential mods or minor infractions of the speed limit (however safe the conditions) are purely to keep the police in their jobs (which we already pay for through our taxes) which lets them spend the remaining 80%(?) of their time chasing proper road crimes It's a farce. In fact, when I was at Steve Jordan's yesterday, a guy came in with a Duke Desmosedici Dooda thingy and was incensed that he had an advisory on his Mot saying "Loud exhaust". The tester said that he had to put that on in case he was stopped by the police and they check back to the MOT to see it passed without a caution. He could lose his certificate if he didn't note it down - even though the exhaust he had on the bike was quieter than the factory Ducati pipe. The tester also said it's a balancing act which is frustrating for them as testers. The MOT should be about road worthiness and not asthetics that have no affect on the bikes safety. As an example, he said that he can't fail a bike for having it's gear lever hanging off, but there are 31 rules that can fail a bike purely on it's numberplate. Madness
. I like to ride real slow thru town cos then it gives the 'civilians' more time to admire me 'blade. just sayin. .
My two penneth worth. We all know the rules of the road and we all know that anyone buying a 180 mph bike is very unlikely to be sticking to them I know the risks when I take them. If I got nicked for speeding it'd be my own fault. If I want to ride quick then I either take that choice and accept the potential knuckle-rapping or pay the money and ride on a circuit. I don't hold with this idea that we should be exempt from the rules and I don't really agree with the biker victim mentality. Imagine if they sold cars that had a power to weight ratio of a 1000 bhp / tonne for 5K. The roads would be carnage It's the risk that keeps people away.
I remember saying the self same thing to my mate just after I got my first 'proper bike'. 20 mph was just right for around town.
or would he just open his wallet to show his licence next to his police warrant card,or freemasons membership?
