Watched Galaxy Quest with my grand-kids over the holiday. We loved it. Totally under-rated film. GETSUM?
I think he's pretty cool generally. He knows his place in history, knows it pays the bills and isn't afraid to join in the piss taking of himself. Plus Patrick Stewart blanked me last year so he can go f**k himself.
Ron Howards new movie about f1 looks very good http://movies.uk.msn.com/trailers-a...ab441d97631&src=v5:endslate:email:&from=email really good
Anything with David Attenborough presenting/narrating. The man could make bedsheets seem interesting.
I did, didn't think it had a scratch on 'Africa' though. The camera work in that was something else. Although the focus has gone (from his earlier work like Planet Earth) these days more towards flashy camera work and emotional musical scores and moved away from the educational side, which I think made it far more interesting. Although educational rarely makes money - emotion grabbing scenes do a much better job at that..
You raise a good point. Recently, I've thought the big, premium documentaries from the Beeb have been more a demonstration of HD super slo mo than an effort to educate. Still spectacular to look at but definitely a slide towards form over function. I did see this morning that Seth McFarlane, of all people, may be remaking the seminal Carl Sagan 'Cosmos' series. That could go either way in a big hurry. Not sure how it would have the same effect without Sagan's charisma.
Amen, Ken. I was rivetted to DA's stuff as a kid and it didn't have all the bells and whistles. Just DA at the top of his game - educating, interesting, enthusiastic. Happy days.
Cops - CBS Reality Modern Family - Sky 1 - Best comedy on the box Walking Dead - FoxHD - Coming into season 4 now so probably already been mentioned. Anything on Eden HD - such a brilliant channel for all things nature.
