In preparation for first decent ride of the year, had the battery on the Optimate all night. Bike span up with vigour and started straight away... leaving me with confidence that the battery had survived winter, so off I went. After half hour of thoroughly enjoyable blasting I stopped for a cig and plane watching at the airport. Finished cig, kitted back up and prodded starter...... nothing! Not so much as a twitch.

After 10 minutes or so of shaking my head a guy on an old Yamaha pulled over to see if I was ok, and proceeded to help me bump start it. Got it running, gave him a hug (that I'm not sure he appreciated) and off we went...... big thank you mystery stranger, new battery to be ordered shortly!

Is a good point. Am I right in saying that, with the engine running I should see 14+ volts across battery to prove that reg/rec and generator are good?

I used to bump start my old ZX6R quite often, does this not work well with the Blade?

But its a known fault on the rr6/7 they overheat n melt the windings Dobles weren't interested as when it happened the bike was over 2 years old,so phoned Marshalls of Peterbrough for some independent advice they informed yeah blah blah blah known fault tough shit

Yea, ya should see 14.4v with a bit of throttle. with everything off ya should see 13.2v on battery terminals.
