Well as we have had a few nice days I thought it was about time I got round to getting the fueling sorted on the bike Also interested how much the bike is pumping out, and how good/bad the downloaded map from Dynojet is, as I have a MASSIVE flat spot between 2500-3000rpm at the moment. So I'm booked in at HM Racing early next month for 3-4 hours of torture Hopefully going to have the bike set up with two maps (Baffle in & Baffle out). Only had contact with them on the phone so far, but they seem very knowledgeable & friendly. Getting EXCITED!!
Good stuff, it should make a noticeable difference if you have a flat spot. The standard maps are ok, but you can't beat a custom one. I am not 100% sure if you will be able to have 2 separate maps though, so it may be worth thinking about having mapped for baffle in or out. I would personally say have it mapped for baffle out, as if you then go for the baffle in at a later date, it will run slightly rich, rather than lean if you have it mapped with baffle in and remove it a later date. Only thing I would add is, don't listen to the bike on the dyno. go and do some shopping, have your legs waxed, anything is preferable to hearing the bike going through the whole thing!
Definitely join your bike in the dyno room - it is a wonderful experience and it ain't going to do anything you don't do to it yourself on the road / track... That was just run 3. About 10 runs later I had 194 RWBHP and 211 BHP at the crank....
I have a PCV fitted to mine Robin, so I should be able to switch between two maps, as long as a switch is fitted
Love it!! I would like to watch when they do mine and possibly record some runs if they let me. Also going to ask if I can have a copy of the runs so I can see the difference between the original run & the finished map
My S1000RR was already running the generic PCV map for a full system & standard filter when I turned up but the mid-range fuelling was terrible. It really opened my eyes as to how bad the generic maps are and also that "sharing" custom maps with other owners of identical bikes is pointless as each bike is truly unique from a mapping point of view.
Wow, what a difference!! Just like to thank the guys at HM Racing for the custom maps. Very professional & friendly outfit and they had nothing but praise for our Arthur Arrived at 10am, was meant to be there at 09:30. Not a problem though, the bike was wheeled straight into the dyno room and strapped down. Had a few issues with the PCV not recognising the bike had a toggle switch for the two maps, but the guys soon sorted this and then got down to the serious stuff. Not the greatest picture I know, but I was taking it from their viewing area I got a few video clips, once I figure out how to convert them from mts files? into something that the likes of Youtube can read I'll post them up. Finally left them around 13:30 with two custom maps loaded onto the PCV Can't believe how instant the throttle response is now compared to before. They did say that on 100% throttle the downloaded map was very good, but everywhere else did need tidying up. I very happy customer
Yes mate. The part throttle is night & day, and considering that's where we spend most of our time it's well worth it. If you look at the graph, the custom map has a very even fuel/air ratio all the way along the revs, where as the downloaded map has a couple of rises along the line.
The dyno guy was also impressed with how cool the bike runs. He said he didn't need to use a lot of the cold air feed when running the bike on the dyno. Looks like those Samco hoses must have helped
I would say that is the understatement of the thread. My local dyno magician (ex BSB racer, KTM RC8 & Superduke Cup Champion and all round top bloke) charges me just £100 for a custom map. The difference over the shite stock PCV maps on their website is night and day. Custom maps are just that, custom for your bike and your bike only. Highly unlikely to work on any other bike even if the the spec is exactly the same.
Another graph for you guys to digest Baffle In vs. Baffle Out Not bad, only losing 4bhp with the baffle in and a fairly smooth line
