Really cheesed off Crap Sumer, long winter and just when the sun starts to appear woke up a week ago with out of the blue double vision !! What the fu.. Been to the optician , sent me to my GP who sent me to eye infirmary where after 9 hrs of tests a consultant suspects a condition called Diplopia . So now home signed off work waiting for blood tests, thyroid test and then MRI scan and can't do anything Bloody hate it
A work mate had similar and the doctor'' told'' or had to tell the DVLA which forced a temp ban from driving , and i had to pick him up and drop him off for weeks until he got the all clear. The main thing is it sorts its self out !The bike can wait a little longer.
Yea doctor has said not to tell them until confirm , just don't drive which I wouldn't anyway Did your mates go away by itself or did he have treatment
Hi Gray he is back at work and the doc signed he fit to drive .The first symptom was a blind spot in the corner of his eye not sure of any blurred vision although I can ask tomorrow .At first it was full on "end of the world "with a Scan ect but he was working but not driving although he could but would not risk it and then I think it got better .
Hi gray, that's a pisser. Diplopia is just the descriptive medical term for double vision so by definition if you have double vision you have diplopia. It's not a disease in itself. It's caused by absolutely masses of things, some of which get better by themselves and some of which need treatment. Sounds like you're being investigated properly. I've had a warped spot in the lateral vision of one eye for 2 months now - doesn't stop me driving as my central vision is fine but it makes it look like the car in front has a bashed bumper on the left side. And all of the lampposts are bent. Eye specialist tells me it's something that will probably get better but it might be a different thing that gets worse. Awaiting test results. Good luck buddy.
Well after several days in hospital every test available Been diagnosed with MS , bloody great . Been told its in relapse at the moment and i should return to normal , refused the steroids at the moment ..so hopefully can get back on the bike soon
Hi gray, sorry to hear that. A close relative of mine has lived with MS for decades. You'll have good times and bad times with it I'd guess. And good times will be a great excuse to get out and ride! Best wishes pal.
Thanks guys..just gotta get on with it I spose Vision is slowly getting better And when it does the baby is outta the garage and I'm gonna ring it's neck can't wait
Hope it pans out ok dude as there is loads of advice and new drugs/treatment coming on stream all the time , and in a way its a wake up call for most of us'' to get out and enjoy life'' as you dont know whats around the corner.
Thanks mate Ain't gonna roll over and give up with this . And your right enjoy it while you can . I went to bed just over a week ago feeling fine , woke up with double vision and here I am now ... Life can be a bastard sometimes
Well guys vision and full body control is back ( still got a few aches & pains and slight arm numbness ) but after 12 weeks of what seems like hell and back, finally had a quick blast on the bike BOY IT FELT GREAT Endless tests later and they think I have it mild and new wonder drugs can control it. So for now I'm back and gonna bloody enjoy it while I can
There's a couple more members in Cornwall since you were last on the road so with full fitness sunshine and playmates life's good yeah
