Thinking of fitting these, does anyone have any opinions or feedback on them before i do ie- are they worth spending money on ? how easy are they to fit ? do they fit nice and snug (no rattles or vibrations) etc etc ... thanks in advance
Radiator guard is a lot cheaper than a new radiator if a stone cracks it... R&G guard here. You can't go wrong with any of them.
Got the Evotech Rad Guard me self. Honda CBR1000RR Radiator Guard | Motorcycle Parts | Honda Spares Very good fit, no rattles, but like most of them probably, they are a Twat to fit as you have to split the fairing and squeeze the fecker in without scratching owt! (Ignore the statement that this guard is unsuitable for ABS models, that's bollox!)
i really wish they did the downpipe cover for the 2011 models but i can only find them for the 2012 as i really like them
I have both fitted to my 12 , rad is a worthwhile purchase but wouldn't recommend the down pipe grill. I paid almost £50 for it ( R&G ). Yes it finishes it off but the money would be better spent on something more useful. You're never going to get much damage to your downpipes.
Agree with beavis, I got both as well. Seems a bit of a rip off paying nearly the same for the small lower guard as the rad guard..!! Also rad guard slipped in easy, 2 cable ties at top, 1 bolt on bottom. With the sticky backed foam on rear, no rattles at all. As for the lower guard, was a pain in the arse to do, as side fairing had to be semi taken off for access to bottom mounting bolt.
Yes, the Evotech one,it does state not for ABS models but to be honest I missed that bit as they stick at the bottom of be page and I'd ordered it by then ! Anyways it went on fine once I'd split the front fairings etc

I've got both the R&G rad and downpipe grill, got them at the show last year good price. The downpipe grill does finish it off nicely but as said before is a bugger to fit, and that's before you have to put the faring back on !
I wondered that also, meant to ring em and ask but never got round to it. They aren't too hot on keeping up with product development. I ordered their front wheel crash bobbins and found out that the LHS one was too small on it's locating ring and flapped about. Turns out the Big Piston Forks on 2012 have a larger spindle diameter so the LHS bobbin needs upping to a 20mm locating ring compared to the 2008-11 models. After consultation with me and a bit of precision measuring with the old micrometer they sent me a replacement and have now amended their 2012-13 kits. Must ask for my product development fee!
I wonder if it's got anything to do with masking the air-flow over the front ABS pump. Isn't there a question mark over the front pump already being located in close proximity to the (hot) headers? I believe some ABS failures have been blamed on over-heating.
The Evotech is a very nice design, made of a single piece of thick aluminium sheet. The fairings have to be removed to fit it so plan to fit a frame slider at the same time - R&G one is the cheapest on the market...
You don't need to remove the front fairings to fit the Evotech unit, just remove the belly pan and remove the lower fairing screws etc so you can ease it apart an inch or two thus allowing the guard to be slid up. It's such a good fit with the stick on foam strips that you only need the bottom bolt connection doing. The top Zippy Ties are not needed and to be honest are too fiddly to do anyway unless you're a gynecologist!
I didn't know that, Nicko. What does the abs pump look like? Mercifully I haven't had any issues with my abs.
